Vara's Ambition (Jund Midrange Goodstuffs)

Gauntlet Deck By

Cost Curve

I created this deck from the same muse that inspired: It was originally intended as an alteration of a Fire Justice Shadow variation of the 'Steal your opponents cards' idea utilizing Bartholo, Beguiling, hence why the foundation of the deck includes Street Urchin, Vishni, Raniya, and Makkar's Stranger. When Vara, Death's Master was released I was finally provided with both a new card to focus the deck around, and a reason to confront the truth: Bartholo is a bad card.

This Deck

Compared to my Xenan steal deck, this deck has a very different relationship to the market. The market contains all of the bombs a.k.a. the payoffs to a deck built around Vara, Death's Master. The core of the deck keeps you stable so you can pull out 1 of a few ways to lockdown control of the game and hasten a win.

Fun Card Interactions

- Putting Souleater Blade on Dichro before wiping their board of small dudes.
- Brel Solist Apostate + Vara meaning you actually see both sides of Brel's Relic Weapon ability, rather than just assuming that someone has to have buffed an existing relic weapon at some point.
- Jekk, Lone Gun + Vara will always give you the tribute trigger which gives you your choice of battleskills off an opponents unit to put on Vara.

Very fun deck and I had a pretty easy time winning my first gauntlet run with it. I haven't taken the time to play Raniya yet and I was also looking for something with the new Vara. It didn't help that this carries so many of my favorite gauntlet cards to play as well. :P Thanks for the share!
