Welp, I took this turd of a deck to top 10 masters, so I should probably add it here. This is an adaptation of
Fun Maul feat Crisis of Faith, with some cards swapped out and a market added.
This is your classic Dichro's Maul style of deck, with lots of cards to force enemy card draw, then punish it with
Dichro's Ruin and
Disciplinary Studies, and a bunch of enemy unit bounce cards to get rid of threats and fill their hand up further, at which point you can boop them with a
Maul.
Most games I chip away at their health with Dichro/nightfall to get them down to 18 health with a full hand, and Maul them, often on curve or soon after. If I can get a couple curses to stick, Crisis of Faith is an alternate option, doing a good chunk of damage and/or filling their hand up with super expensive cards, and disrupting any combos they have brewing.
What can go wrong? A lot. Relic hate isn't as bad as it was years ago when I first played this archetype, but it's still a huge issue. If you can chip down their health to within Maul range before they kill them, you're good, but otherwise it's rough. I tried a fast counterspell in the market to stop relic killer spells, but I rarely have enough energy leftover to play it. Aegis is also a huge pain, especially face (
Formbend and
Trick Throw in the market are there to help poke through), but unit aegis makes it hard to remove big threats. Swarmy aggro is usually a killer unless you have a well-timed
Chronostorm ready, and even then, your whole game plan gives them so much gas.
The market is a work in progress.
Lys, Champion of Linrei should probably be
Mistveil Drake for emergency aegis, but I felt like I wasn't getting enough use out of it.
Formbend is also a weak point, it can save the day in a pinch, but it's too situational.
Honestly, this deck isn't super amazing, it took a long time to really master it. But man, is it fun.
