Information

This list is similar to the list I achieved second with in week 8 of the ETS. I've had a lot of success with this style of list ever since the release of Auric Interrogator and honestly I really enjoy the versatility this deck has. It can go aggressive against control decks with the use of ripknife assassin and dawn walkers. It can also be defensive with cards like blister-sting wasp and Ayan. The deck can generate a lot of value as well with the combo of dark return and xenan initiation.

General advice: Don't keep 2 power hands and get good :p

I picked up this list and gave it a whirl, and I'm glad I did. I've played countless Xenan mid/control lists, it's a color combination that's really hard to naile down the best list because there's just so many great options.

So far I'm 4-0 with the list in master league. The only change I've made so far is cutting 1 obelisk for a 3rd vara's choice. That card is just fantastic, it really helps fight early aggression, it gives you tempo when you're the aggro deck, it disrupts the opponent, and takes care of hard to deal with threats. Obelisk is obviously very powerful and has some good synergies with this list, but I find it's just really not necessary to win, and I really don't want to draw multiple copies. This deck is a lot more interactive than old praxis token and scouting party lists, and I want more interactive cards.

My only concern is the powerbase. Doesn't this deck want 4 diplomatic seal? You really need early fixing for the heavy influence requirements on your 2 and 3 drops, I've had a couple openings where I had like tripple shadow or quad time, luckily I drew out of it. But i did also have a game with 3 double shadow cards stuck in my hand at the end. I dunno, is there a reason behind the exclusion of that power card?

If I was to give a reason for not playing diplo seal it would be that you want to hit 4 time so playing diplo seal will inhibit that. I've also experimented with seek powers over vara's favor because aegis pops aren't too relevant for the deck. I agree that 4 obelisk can be too many in some matchups but all I run into is feln and obelisk is huge in that matchup. Thanks for the feedback and hope you continue to enjoy the deck.

Good point on the seal.

I haven't played enough to make any solid conclusions about feln, but seems like games will go long and you basically need to outvalue them with cards like dawnwalker, and try not to die to champion. I guess obelisk makes every topdecked creature into a serious threat, 2 obelisks makes temple scribes return dawnwalkers?

Obelisks put most of your units out of hail storm range and yes a 5/5 scribe will bring back dawnwalkers :o. Feln, hooru and icaria decks are usually good matchups. It's elysian that is the biggest weakness of this deck and also StoneScar aggro but that's not too popular atm.

PS love the list, a lot of fun to play

Hey ninja how is the list going for you in ranked? New player here looking to dump my shiftstone into a xenan or a hooru deck. Wondering how the deck is working for people love the look of it
Ninjacan Eternal Version: 1.29
Btw I think hooru is a bit of a trap. It can get really expensive, almost all mythics and rares, seems really strong, but I just can't win with that deck. This deck has slightly less power and less evasion, but more synergy, more resiliency, and better disruption/removal

I'm 10-3 with this list. XD

Ahhh cool! I think I will work towards the 17k more Shiftstone this weekend and make this. Been playing about 8 days now but I'm loving the way this deck looks. Thanks secondblue and ninja for the advice.
