Allright,
This Deck is by far not the most refined. It was meant to be a quick, low cost (and campaign-free) way to achieve a somewhat dependable success in Gauntlet. Beginner's stuff. And so far, it got me through Master Gauntlet about 80%+ of the time. It plays on the AI's reluctance to sabotage your board at the cost of their units, letting you stall long enough to ramp your board to ridonkulous dimensions. Time is almost always on your side.
Human players, on the other hand, tend to kill your important units off as soon as they can, leaving you as helpless as a toddler in a gangfight. Ah, childhood... So it's pretty meh for Versus, which doesn't mean you can't score some of the time.
It's all pretty straightforward, but let's talk about some specific cards:
Awakended Student[card]s are your bread and butter, as are
Order of the Spire as long as you can work around the enormous bullseye they wear on their chest in the first few turns. Once they have gained their fair amount of ridiculous strength (gotta love exponential functions), use
Porcelain Mask to promote your them from mere rubble cleaners to all out onehitters or get that sweet, sweet three-digit-health-cushion with
Healer's Cloak.
Chancellor's Horn is mainly there to get you reliable access to
Powerbreach Sentinel and
Minotaur Ambassador for some mid- to late-game manaflow.
Make sure you get your
Civic Peacekeepers out as soon as possible, as they can really mow down the enemy's field as soon as a steady manaflow sets in.
Martyr's Chains is in here for the same reason. It's stat-boosts are just the glacier-sized masses of icing on the cake: Cool in theory but more of a "I was winning anyway, but let me kick your face and burn down your house and hometown aswell"-gimmick in practice.
I found the
Mantle of Justice very usefull to guarantee your Sentinels safety while attacking, in order to keep the power incominging.
Finally a shoutout to my man, that silhouette on
Teleport. This card's usefulness is off the charts. Deflect enemy attacks? Sure, why not? Get your cherished Student to safety? Sure thing! Playing the same Ambassador twice in one turn to stun/kill freaking hosts of enemies while cranking your Paladins up to 11 and blow
Hojan, Crownbreaker to Schwarzeneggeresque proportions? Got ya, mate! Seriously, don't underestimate this card!
The other cards are pretty much optional. If this deck seems to big for you, feel free to remove some of them, though the deck's size never gave me any problems, due to the amount of capable units and steady ways to keep the power incoming.
That being said, there are lots of ways to improve the deck, once you got your grabby little hands on some gold and shiftstone. Most of all, Merchants can be brought in to give cards like the Big Yellow X their rightful place on the market. You should also consider getting the
Worldbearer Behemoth, the Sentinel's older brother who is superior in pretty much every way and is doing his PhD on Harvard right now instead of bringing shame over the family by running off with the Minotaur next door. And don't forget ye olde
Telut, Queen's Hand or your go to airial defence
The Great Parliament...
So feel free to improve the deck to your liking once you can afford it. Like I said, this is in no way top-tier, but a pretty much certain Gauntlet-win for beginners. Have fun!
True, a lot of cards are still in there from the building process and can/should easily be left out. The deck tanking its time is also an issue if you want to use it for grinding. I'll look what I can do about it ;)
