This is the first time I am putting a deck over here.
The objective of this deck is to leave the opponent with as many dead cards as possible.
Opening:
Ideal Opening hand contains 3 powers, with at least 2 influence of Primal and one of
Wisdom of the Elders /
Strategize with at least 2 removals, one of which should be 3 cost or less. Having
Bar the Gates in the opening hand is a huge bonus as it allows you to see the opponent's hand on turn 2.
Strategy:
The focus should be on leaving the opponent with as many dead cards as possible. Use
Citywide Ban to take out Sites, Relic weapons, aerial threats and units with aegis in the opponent's deck and, if the opponent is running several relics, then the relics you think would be critical to opponent's victory. Use
Avigraft to take out persistent ground units (eg: Dawnwalkers) or Units which are spawned by relics or specific weapons or Merchants or any other units which you would rather the opponent not play.
Unseal can be used to defend against the opponent using relic removal to get rid of Avigraft, Vision of Austerity or Citywide Ban, or against an opponent using Citywide Relic, Rain of Frogs or Azindel's Gift on you.
Duelist's Blade and
Hammer of Authority can be used as both as removals as well as to chip away at opponent's health before bringing out
Sword of the Sky King
Removal Pack:
Spot Removals:
Permafrost x 2 against aggro decks or to hold up units on the board until you can get enough of them to use board wipes
Vanquish x 2 for getting rid of bigger opponent threats. They are best used on big flying units
Avigraft x 4
Eilyn's Choice x 3 + 1 in the Market
Board Wipes:
Hailstorm x 3
Harsh Rule x 4
End of the Story x 2
I try to save at least 3 Harsh Rules/End of the Story until the end game to get a clear run at the opponent with
Sword of the Sky King
Finishers
Sword of the Sky King - The idea is to wait until most of the opponent's cards are dead before bringing out Sword of the Sky King and then using board wipes to remove any units and Eilyn's Choice/Unseal against any spells which the opponent can still manage to play against Sword of the Sky King. Most of the time, when you bring out Sword of the Sky King after disabling most of the opponent's cards, the opponent will just concede the battle.
There are only 5 Units in the deck -- 2 x
Jennev Merchant and 3x
Winchest Merchant. This is because it is possible that you can go the entire game without actually using your Market. It also leaves the opponent's removals dead.
Market Strategy:
If the opponent is running a shadow deck, the first card to come out of your market should be
Adjudicator's Gavel which will leave quite a few of opponent's cards (Dark Return, Haunting Scream) dead.
If you see (using Citywide ban or Bar the Gates) that opponent has a few critical relics then draw
Vision of Austerity from the market.
But against most decks, the only card you would need to remove from the market is
Brilliant Idea which you can remove when you hit 6/7 power (and use at 8 power to draw 4 cards) and
Sword of the Sky King which should be removed from the market if you have a lot of board sweepers in your hand and you get a clear run at Opponent's Face for 3-4 turns which will win the game for you.
Eilyn's Choice is in the market as it is versatile and can be used in a variety of situations against big spells as well as big units.
Issues:
1) This deck struggles against Aggro decks unless you get an optimum draw
2) There is no Site removal. The best defense against sites is to disable them via Citywide Ban. I feel you can still get around this by getting rid of all the units after a site is played to reduce the impact of sites
3) This deck struggles against decks with heavy relic weapons. Again the best defense against this is to disable any relic weapons using Citywide ban.
Currently, I am 14-6 with this deck including 10 straight victories.
