how do you like kodosh/shen ra with their recent nerfs?
I'm wondering if it's worth crafting kodosh for example vs subbing for maybe Hojan, Crownbreaker or Ironfist Chancellor
- The nerf to Shen-Ra really hurt this deck because with Master of Arms she needed two attacks to reach mastery. Now she needs three. Turn 1 Shen-Ra, turn 2 MoA was a very common play pattern with this deck. Having to wait one more turn is a big disadvantage because this deck relies on its speed and consistency to win games (that's also the reason why you don't splash a second color -- you don't want to risk having depleted power or not enough influence).
- Kodosh's Stranger at 1 health (2 after the first attack) is also a detriment to the deck's effectiveness because previously the opponent would most likely not have anything to block and kill the stranger due to the 4 health, and the game would snowball from there. One attack was all that was needed. Now it's much harder to pull it off because the opponent will almost always have something to block and kill a 2-health unit.
- About Hojan: I don't like this card for a few reasons: when you're playing Ghostblade Outcast, Unseen Commando and Crownwatch Standard you don't need more lifesteal. Also, to take advantege of Hojan's renown you need to use a Finest Hour which is better used on Shen-Ra or Varret to make them reach their masteries (or on a flying unit to reach lethal, or on Outcast to have a bigger exalted weapon the turn he dies). Having to use Finest Hour to save a 2/1 from dying is not what you want to be doing.
- Ironfist Chancellor is kinda bad without the tribute and amazing with it. It's a decent power sink later in the game. Play them if you have them, definitely better than Hojan, but I don't think it's worth the craft. Other viable two-drops are Axe Sharpener (pseudo-exalted with decent stats) and Relentless Deadshot (the lifesteal is worthless, but the ability to stun at least 2 units -- more if you buff his health -- can be crucial and the computer doesn't play around it). If you play Deadshot, you can maybe play something else in the market other than Storm of Feathers.
As far as mono decks go, I've been playing mono time with great success. Here: https://eternalwarcry.com/decks/d/Sv3a882mAzE/gauntlet-even-mono-time
Gotta say, I really like this deck. It’s a top contender.. I’m a huge fan of Mono decks because I at least know I won’t be skipping turns because I somehow can’t get the right influence I need.
Side note, idk about anyone else, but I’ve found having multiple gauntlet decks to run seems to keep the AI off balance. If I use the same deck over and over, I’ll face the bosses that give me the most trouble over and over, but by playing a different deck that plays better vs that boss, I tend to see less repeats since (I assume) it hasn’t logged which boss is most effective? I might be making this all up. Idk. lol
