I spent a decent amount of time shuffling cards between market and main for this so I hope you guys have as much luck with it as me. It's 6-2 currently so I'll see how it does from here on in.
Mystic Ascendant is your consistent draw, and
Ancient Lore is there to get you through blocks as well as a minor buff to your guys.
Devotee of the Sands,
Initiate of the Sands and
Eternity Core are all there to boost your power. It isn't 100% vital that you get power gains but vs typical aggro matches it increases your pace to board bigger dudes, which is important.
Great Valley Smuggler and
Howling Peak Smuggler were chosen because both effects give you value, while charge doesn't normally do much for you. I took
Xenan Obelisk out of the main deck for
Ancient Lore because while it's really useful, in this deck its effectiveness is situational and not 100%; also having it as your top deck late game with 2 empty boards is baddddd, while your draw can help take back control of gameflow.
From watching what decks people list as different archetypes here I've noticed that a lot of players don't have a good grasp on what the archetypes mean. Control is control; its goal is to manage its opponent and push into lategame to drop really big bombs and game altering, high cost cards. Aggro is low-curve, early- to midgame I'm going to smash in your face with dudes and weapons. Midrange is designed to outpace aggro and effectively stop control from sticking its bombs. While not always 100% accurate it's a good way to measure their direct relationship by thinking of rock/paper/scissors. Good enough aggro should beat most mids, good enough mids should beat most controls, and good enough controls should beat most aggros. Again it isn't a hard and fast rule but it's a good way to think about it when you're creating decks. It'll help push you past getting caught up trying to do too many things, and as such midrange should have some marketed anti aggro and control some anti mids and aggro some anti control.
Anyway if you have questions on the deck or suggestions I don't shut anyone down for giving advice and I'm happy to explain what I've run into building it. As always thanks for checking it out and hfgl!
