TJP Aggro Post Dark Frontier [Card Choices Explained]

OVERVIEW

This is my first attempt to build a deck that utilize Phase Out, because I like it so much. And it has been performing quite well for me in TOP 100 master. (STONESCAR IS STILL A BETTER DECK THOUGH!). Anyway, let's take about some card choices.

Alessi, Combrei Archmage
Actually, Alessi is not the best card in the deck. In fact, she is really just average. She is in this deck because she is the only 1 drop that we can play. She is definitely much better than any other one drops for this deck just because if you play a spell, she is permanently out of snowball range, which other 1 drops fail to provide. Also, playing her as a 1 drop is risky due to random snowballs but sometime you have to do it. Between her, Hojan, Crownbreaker, and Pearl Abbey Smuggler, if they have snowball they are going to hit something and it is hard to completely avoid it all the time.

Phase Out
If you think this card is bad, think again! This is the main reason why this deck is playable at all. About 90% of the time, this is just a better Permafrost. Honestly, most of the time this is a 1 cost slay which is super powerful. It is better than Permafrost in taking out a body, because it doesn't care about endurance. Also, it doesn't leave a stunned unit behind where you can get totally wrecked by a Bore or a Korovyat Palace. 3 turns is usually long enough for you to kill your opponent once you take out their Vara, Vengeance-Seeker or Sandstorm Titan, and if you can't kill them by then there is a high chance you are going to lose anyway.

Awakened Student
One of the best 2 drops in the game if you go first. If you go first, he is a 3/3 for 2 which blocks Teacher of Humility and Amaran Stinger which is super important in this game. This is why I don't like Dusk Raider and Rakano Outlaw right now because they just don't offer enough stats.

Rilgon's Disciple
I don't think I need to explain why he is here, seems obvious. But, he actually has very good body. 2/3 blocks Amaran Stinger, which is a really big deal.

Pearl Abbey Smuggler
The new addition to the deck. Without the market effect, he is just a worse 3 cost Alessi. Just think of him as a market swapping effect with a free Alessi. But being able to run 8 merchants greatly increases the consistency of this deck and he certainly contributes.

Rime Conclave Smuggler
This card is really good, since this deck is usually the aggressor, this card is just a better un-nerfed Jennev Merchant. The face aegis is actually really relevant. To be honest, I hate re-animator. And this card answers them so hard that you might not even lose against them anymore. On turn 3, attack, play this, get face aegis and grab Vanquisher's Blade. Normally, in decks like FJS, I will only go for market on turn 4 because I can get Adjudicator's Gavel and play it without exposing myself to Sabotage. In this deck you can go for your Vanquisher's Blade on turn 3 and on turn 4 you put the blade on him. And now they have to really dig their deck for answers. Which how aggressive this deck is, it is hard to survive more than 6 to 7 turns as a re-animator if they do not get their combo off on turn 5 or 6.

Geomar, the Steel Tempest
You know what? I thought he is the worst card in the deck and I am so wrong about it. It is absolutely true that he dies to Torch, but most of the time they already use their Torches on your Hojan and other units. The fact that this card dodges Vanquish and Defiance, which although not as important as Torch, is still relevant. If he survives a turn or two, he is going to deal massive damage. The endurance on him might seems mediocre, but it allows him to actually be very good defensive unit as well. You can play Equivocate to take out a big guy, and due to his effect he is now 5/4, you can block a smaller guy with him and gain 5 points of health. This happens really often especially against aggressive decks.

Jotun Hurler
This card is actually really good here because this deck has 8 smugglers, which means we can get a lot value out of him being 2 cards by himself. Also, Snowball is really good here, at worst you can use it as a renown trigger on Hojan, or just ping your opponent to trigger the effects on Alessi, Disciple, Pearl Abbey Smuggler or Geomar to deal more damage.

MARKET
I have Vanquish, Pristine Light, Stand Together, Vision of Austerity, and Vanquisher's Blade. The best card here is Vanquish and Pristine Light, against Stonescar usually I would say Pristine light is a tiny bit better, because sometimes you can get 2 for 1 by killing a Champion of Chaos and a Vara, Vengeance-Seeker, but overall Vanquish is more versatile as a 2 cost removal. Stand Together is surprisingly not so good because costing 3 is a lot and it is hard to develop and protect your board at the same time, but sometimes you just have to get it even-though it is not very good. Vision of Austerity might actually be something else like a Palace but I am not sure. Vanquisher's Blade is already discussed, it is here just for the auto-win against re-animator when it is grabbed by Rime Conclave Smuggler.
