Hey all - since coming back to the game after a couple years off, I have been trying to find the absolute best gauntlet deck to grind with. In this case, by that I mean a deck that loses as infrequently to the AI as possible (as opposed to speed of this deck, this is on the slightly slower side).
I have been tweaking and re-tweaking this deck for the entire two weeks and I'm pretty sure I've landed on the best possible composition (though there's a whole lot of cards now and I don't know all of them so I could have easily missed something better).
Cards I have used and ended up dismissing:
Acantha Ascending - The deck was originally built around this card and it ultimately just stunk in a control shell
Dreamsnatcher - The 2 drop I tried replacing Acantha with... it was ultimately just worse than the best shadow 2 drop in the game who took the spot in the end.
Valkyrie Enforcer - I had this card in there for quite awhile but she just didn't really do much vs the AI so I ultimately cut her for the Speaking Circles which, as you might expect, overperform in most cases.
The Market is where I had the most fun playing around. I actually love the 5 cards - here are the reasons for them:
At Any Cost - I originally had
End of the Line here but then I found this newer card and it does the same thing so much better - you desperately want to be able to gain life in some games and doing so while killing a creature is fabulous.
Deathstrike - Sometimes you just need pure removal and the original "kill anything" card fits nicely
Inquisitor Makto - The most recent addition. For the longest time this had been
Burglarize but relic hate is pretty pointless in gauntlet and I often found I just wanted one more piece of action in the market. This is replaceable by any pet favorite piece of action people have.
Stray into Shadow - Harsh Rule #5 is huge vs. the many aggro matchups in Gauntlet.
Dizo's Office - the premiere market card. I go get this card almost every single game as it just ends most games.
Anyway, I know we have some gauntlet grinders out there so I wanted to share this deck with you all. As of this writing, I have not lost with this iteration of the deck (35-0 so far). Obviously this will end eventually since eventually every deck gets power screwed but it is incredibly strong and resilient.
Also, if anyone has questions/suggestions feel free to leave them. Like I said, I've tweaked this A LOT so there are numerous cards I have tried and dismissed as inferior (a couple listed above but I've tried other things also). I'm happy to give more reasoning to card choices if people want it.
Cheers!
