So. This deck is all about the excellent synergy between its units. Here's what's up:
Feln Adept - A decent blocker on its own and an absurd value engine when pumped by Warcry effects or cards like
Toxic Wisp,
Dark Return,
Vine Grafter, or
Ulixa, Unspoken Terror (use its ability on the enemy face), this unit basically lets you play
Cull the Deck every turn. Your mileage may vary on the number, but it's only a 3-of for me because it can be underwhelming if you don't find one of those to pair it with.
Toxic Wisp - Not bad on its own as a deadly blocker or a cheap unit to have Tarra give Warcry to. Great when paired with
Feln Adept or
Auric Interrogator, and outright hilarious when used to give Deadly to
Ulixa, Unspoken Terror or
Black Book, Pit Boss.
Iadria, Twisted Brewer - This is one card that the Gauntlet AI just cannot seem to understand how to handle, to the point that playing it almost feels like cheating. Slap this bad boy on the board and watch the computer make the dumbest blocks you've ever seen. Funny when paired with any attacker but especially Deadly ones (though watch out for enemy units with Deadly, which seem to be Iadria's Achilles heel.)
Tarra, Ever Loyal - Another card that the enemy AI doesn't always make good decisions around. Dealing with this card usually means killing or silencing Tarra before her paired unit (if not both at once)—but the computer doesn't always know to do that, frequently allowing you to get a 6/6 with Warcry 4 on the board by turn 4.
Black Book, Pit Boss - No Endurance, no problem. BB is still a great card on its own and is spectacular when given Deadly by
Toxic Wisp. The Warcry effect from this card and Tarra will make any of your other units better, but especially
Feln Adept and other Black Books.
Ulixa, Unspoken Terror - Its Summon effect will mess up the enemy's hand but not yours (unless you've marketed for
Fall to Ruin or
Dizo's Office, in which case, be careful). Combine with
Feln Adept or
Toxic Wisp and baby, you've got a stew goin'.
THE MARKET:
Auric Interrogator - This unit sadly had to be excluded from the main deck because it's the only one whose butt is smaller than its... (what body part defines attack power? Hands? Head? ...Tallywhacker?) However, it's still a great card to grab and pump with
Vine Grafter since it embodies an excellent blocker and card advantage engine in one, all playable on turn 4.
Feeding Time - All-purpose (but slow) spot removal that greatly mitigates units with obnoxious Entomb effects like
Umbren Reaper.
Fall to Ruin - Emergency reset button. Sometimes your opponent just high rolls and you don't have a
Nothing Remains in hand to humble them, so you have to grab this instead.
Dizo's Office - Trump card. Great for surprise comebacks or just pushing the game over the edge. Don't sleep on
Threaten, which can make
Black Book, Pit Boss or
Feln Adept more impactful.
THE SIDEBOARD:
Other high-value Gauntlet staples like
Exploit and
Annihilatemay be considered if you're low on shiftstone or if you're wanting a more deliberate and controlling deck.
