Information

Currently Master Rank with this guy.

This is an aggressive slanted Praxis Midrange deck. Being able to take advantage of the new 2 cost Purify, the deck can switch gears from control to aggro much faster, and therefore can interact with aggro in a meaningful way. This helps shore up one of the main weaknesses to original Praxis Midrange, which is Skycraggro rush and Rally Queen. The low number of Xenan Initiation, 0 Friendly Wisps, and 0 Obelisk is a nod towards how popular Banish and Torch are right now. This should go over top Torch pretty hard while giving opponents "just enough" threat level to waste Banishes and such on the 3 drops due to the increased pressure. The biggest loss is Friendly Wisp. The little guy is very great in the mirror, and was good against control, but really poor against aggro.

The two main versions of Praxis are usually either on Temple Scribe OR Champion of Praxis, but I found that cutting Scribe affected my opening hands too negatively and he made his way back in.

A random aside, Tavrod Armory is surprisingly okay, despite what I was worried about. The secret is just silencing Tavrod, regardless of whether or not he lives. The deck has enough threat density to beat just a 5/7.

Last 3 matches I played were against decks packing Obelisk. The board got bigger than I could handle. How do you manage to handle these matches where you have to trade 2 for 1 to get a unit removed? However, this deck did stop skycraggro dead in its tracks. It just feels like this deck stalls out and gets overtaken by obelisk packing midrange decks.

If I'm being blunt- I outplay them, or two for one and keep chugging. I only have 1 or 2 memories of losing to an opposing Obelisk. Normally I push past it all with the higher threat density. For every Obelisk and Friendly Wisp, there is one less actual card in play for the tempo lines.

If someone of similar skill ran an Obelisk in the mirror against me I'd probably lose. I am banking on Obelisk not being common in the higher ranks. The only deck it sees play in that I actually would fear is Xenan Killers, and they run 2 in optimized builds.

If someone is running Obelisk in the mirror type games then they wanted to win the mirror, and lost points against aggressive decks. I would say in this case my win percentage is higher due to how much more often I play against aggro.

I can definitely see cutting Wisp. It's been clutch for me, but there are definitely games where you end up holding it and waiting for the 5-attack guy to be drawn, or even worse dropping multiple Wisps only to get them all torched/lightning stormed. Scribe has an instant cantrip and you can immediately block with him without fear.

It's hard for me to cut Obelisk, even with the increased amount of Relic hate out there, though. It's so strong on its own, turning Scribe and Acolyte into threats that need to be removed, and it makes your big guys bigger than Tavrod. But I understand the reasoning.

Yea, Scribe makes 2/1's angry, or forces kill spells or pump spells in manners the aggro player does not prefer.

I just had too many games where Obelisk got me dead because it wasn't a body. Between Aggro smashing face and watching a Tavrod be cast without enough board presence to handle it on my end.

Have you considered Soulfire Drake for this deck?
OlafForkbeard Eternal Version: 1.26
Rhinarc is superior for what the deck wants. Titans just make them 5/2's, and if I want a powerful end game ability I'd rather have Diogo. I'd rather run the 4th Rhinarc before the first Soulfire Drake in this build.

That and screw Desert marshal.

I figured. Both Purify and Vara's Choice are seeing a lot more play now, so Drake getting silence is a lot more common now than it would have been just a week ago.
