Took this deck from G2 to Masters this season with ease. There tends to be lots of midrange, unitless(or unit-lite) control, and Feln on the ladder atm, matchups that you wouldn't normally expect a Rakano deck to hold its own against. But this one can and very often does.
Warcry triggers are the main gameplan here.
Card choices and reasonings:
4x
Oni Ronin. This is an auto-include 4-of.
4x
Pyroknight. Making up the only other 1-drop unit in our list, pyroknight honestly isn't always fantastic, but the overwhelm and possibility of the lategame +4/+4 make her a relevant threat to be dealt with.
4x
Torch. This is an auto-include 4-of.
3x
Champion of Glory excellent card, eats removal often (unbeknownst to the opponent, usually that's fine. we often just want to be smahing with our warcry units anyways)
3x
Crownwatch Paladin this should probable be increased to a 4-of. fantastic card in this deck. main target for
Deepforged Plate and (aside from an attack-ready
Navani, Warsinger)
Hammer of Might
1x
Ornate Katana currently got as a 1-of to help push dmg and help against mana screw
4x
Rakano Outlaw Warcry+Quickdraw. Often eats removal, but like, whatever man.
3x
Vanquish Part of our very limited removal suite. Originally ran 4-of, but found too many games with multiple useless copies in-hand. Definitely adjust according to the current meta.
4x
Copperhall Bailiff. Pops Aegisii and makes threats less threatening, PLUS has warcry? Sign me tf up.
2x
Shogun's Scepter. Often played on unit already having warcry, making it give multiple warcry triggers, plus push hella dmg, or played on a whirling duo to gain life, get a warcry trigger from it and push dmg. Oh and it gives you a free
Oni Ronin. I could definitely see a universe where this is a 3-of, but since it depends on having units on the board, and getting flooded with weapons in-hand really bites without them, I went with 2.
3x
Sword of Icaria. Currently, Feln seems to be playing very few ways to deal with this card. If you see that your opponent is in Feln and you can drop a Sword of Icaria, you have a really good shot at winning the game.
4x
Whirling Duo Gains you life, pushes dmg fast, puts a must-answer body on the board to distract from warcry units
4x
Hammer of Might. Best played on an attack-ready
Navani, Warsinger, but feel free to play this as you choose. an extra 3 warcry triggers will boost you next unit hugely.
2x
Navani, Warsinger I think this card is underplayed in the current meta right now, and am currently thinking about switching this to a 3-of, possibly cutting one of the plates. It very often plays down expecting to eat removal, but if it doesn't and you can slap a hammer on her, you can often win the game against almost any deck. Absolutely solid 4-drop for this deck.
3x
Deepforged Plate An old Rakano classic. Often best to hold this back for an aegis unit (basically crownwatch paladin), but follow your heart. Got a
Permafrosted
Whirling Duo? Slap a plate on that bitch and make them regret their life choices.3
2x
Icaria, the Liberator This card is our power-flooded in the lategame, but not-quite-dead-yet savior. Icaria is your comfort blanket. Everything is going to be ok.
2 questions:
1. How is it in general vs Feln control (I read the section on sword of Icaria but still...)
2. Does Navani replaceable in this deck?
Also, once you get around 12 sigils, start using waystones instead of sigils.
