Hey! I'm revisiting to ask if you have considered shadow merchant instead of time? while I understand that the ramp off of aurelian merchant is really powerful, but I have found it to be awkward. Played on curve it ramps you to 5 which you have few of, playing it on 4 feels bad over vara/SST, and we have duskwalker for ramp as it were. I feel like having azindel's gift as a 1 of in market over xenan initiation may be a good payoff? Mostly due to the fact that azidel's gift is your wincon vs control, and it would be nice to not have to dig for it. It is also a dead draw vs aggo so getting it out of main deck may pay off.
I play the Aurelian Merch only for grant more power for ramp. I think the Shadow merchant can be better too. It's one more deadly killer combo and it grants more powerfull cards on market. It's only weak vs aggro. Have you just played them? i wanna see your consideration :)
if you opt for shadow merchant you can cut the Gifts for +1 Xenan init +1 Duskwalker. the black market with : Azindel, Azindel's Gift, In cold Blood, Banish and Eremot, the gathering dark ( i think it can be broken vs Temporal control ) or Disjunction/Burgle.
I may have to try this market setup or at least some suggestions. Currently I'm testing it and liking it. My changes were:
Market:
-1 xenan initiation +1 azindels gift (otherwise my market is the same)
Main: - 2 alhed , -2 azindels gift, +1 xenan initiation, and am still experimenting with different 5-ish drop radiants. Currently I'm trying the time radiant with warp and power cards have warp. I was trying it at an attempt at pseudo-card draw on a radiant body that can be reduced and whatnot. Not sure how much I like it. Still deciding on these slots.
It's hard to say how often its helped vs how often I wish i had the ramp. I really do like having the gift in the market though as it's one of those cards you really only want to see when you need it. I'm liking shadow market so far though, gonna try some of your suggestions. Also open to any suggestions you have for those 3 slots haha
Deck seems like a lot of fun but I have a few questions. Bear in mind I'm fairly new so these are honestly more of a question than suggestions.
First, why no consideration of ayan, the abductor? I thought she was a staple in all xenan decks.
Next, why no dawnwalker? He shows up in all sorts of time deck, I really expected him here in a deck looking at radiant synergies?
Third, I understand the duskwalker is a good ramp, however are you able to abuse that ramp longer than 1 turn with the lack of nightfall triggers? Or is he really just intended to get you one "cheat turn?" I was considering cutting auric interrogator for another nightfall trigger as there are a few other wisp/radiants with the keyword, which brings me to...
Lastly, how good has auric interrogator been for you? As far as I can tell the only activators for him are initiation and dark return, both of which seem to be better played on other creatures.
Hi, thank for the answers.
1- Ayan is a really good card that can be a substitution to Auric Interrogetor but i don't have 4 of them.
2- For Dawnwalker there are not so many triggers. ( few 5-attack drops imho )
3- I play Interrogetor because there's no draw mechanic in this deck and it's the best 3-Shadow-drop after ayan. Initially i thought about Premonition Wisp.
4- Duskwalker must be used only with Azindel's cards. On turn 4 you need to play Vara or Titan. Initially i played 2 Twilight Hunt over the Vara's Favor for more Nightfall's trigger and Killer's effect.
5- If you want remove the Auric for more nightfall's trigger you can insert Lunar Magus. i think it can be the perfect substitution
Awesome great suggestions. I'm gonna try ayan I think because I do have her and just feel like auric is lacking triggers. I totally agree on dawnwalker I didn't really consider how few big bodies the deck runs. I also totally missed that amethyst waystone which is a nightfall trigger too. I just played a couple games and won them all. It's quite fun to push card draw through nightfall and then force them to ditch their big full hand, haha.
One other suggestion I have is 1 copy of the 1 cost relic that gives endurance (name escapes me at the moment) to counter permafrost that otherwise seems to be a pretty nasty answer to a lot of the deck. Not sure what you would swap, I took out the banner, but can acknowledge how useful the banner is in the market.
The market is not definitive. There are a lot of cards you can insert like: Infinite Hourglass( The relic who you missed the name :D ), disjunction, Scarf, Vara's choice and more. It depeds to the meta.
i like you enjoy this fun deck :)
