This is a strangely fun brew that started with
Brenn, Chronicler of Ages paired with echo spells. Of course, since that puts lots of spells into the void,
Moment of Creation felt really appropriate as a finisher. But that got me thinking... what *else* might work too?
Accelerated Evolution is a criminally underplayed enhancement, and it's been a pet card of mine for a while. The beauty of it in this deck is that it guarantees all our dudes (especially Brenn) can survive the most common removal options, especially
Hailstorm (which this deck wants to play, and often, against aggro). But AE is not just survivability! It also adds evasion and defense, whichever you need (or both).
Evasion is what
Jotun Feast-Caller wants most of all. His recent buff to 4 health means he can now be played beside Hailstorm without a thought. Giving him flight, or endurance, then makes him a serious threat, which must be answered, or he draws us *all* the cards. That's what a Brenn deck really wants, because if Brenn can survive at all -- or if the game goes long -- power becomes no issue.
What do we do with all that power?
Moment of Creation is a clear answer.
Strength of the Pack (especially on a unit already buffed by AE) is also good.
But most of all, you want to keep hitting with your dudes, which often means clearing the way with your spells. More power makes that substantially easier.
At one point I had
Flame Blast and
Channel the Tempest, but I realized that they were win-more. This deck doesn't need them... and in Channel's case, it almost always needs to be the second spell of the turn in this deck, which can be a lot harder to pull off than you'd think. Brenn ramps hard, but not always with PPPP. I also considered repeated card draw, like
Moondial, but it proved too little gain at too much cost. Besides, Feast-Caller does it way better.
The deck is still being tweaked, but it's a lot of fun. Feel free to try it and post results, suggestions, or recommendations. The power base still gives me fits, honestly, so that's where I've been toying with it the most. I think I'm settled on it now... which is why I'm posting this.
Good luck, cast all the spells, and have fun!
