Information

This has been my pet deck for the last month, and it has been a wild ride. The goal of this deck is to play some token creatures, put Dramatist's Mask mask on them, and then win on the following turn. It can reliably combo on tun 6 with backup, but sometimes as early as turn 5. I feel like this deck is really close, but just a hair too slow.

The combo is essentially 24 damage. First Flame comes into play with Tribute and makes three Infernus, all with haste for nearly lethal damage immediately (it is lethal with Svetya's Bravery). If you don't kill them, they didn't have an answer to the first mask, and they will not have an answer to the second. You will also now, most likely, have a full grip of counter magic which makes my winrate, on games when Mask has triggered, above 95%.

Currently, I am running one Spirit of Resistance to try it out. It has been great and I have won every time it has triggered (approx. ten games), but it is going to feel really bad that one game it gets hit with Vanquish.

The following are the most important cards in the deck (other than the mask combo).

Strategize: This can tuck an unwanted threat back into the deck for more mask shenanigans.
Svetya's Bravery: This is almost the sole reason the deck is as good as it is. One mana aegis for a masked creature will dodge almost any removal.

Honestly, one thing I have noticed that can help is that people are not sure what is going on until the Mask hits, and then sometimes still. They are extremely unlikely to kill your tokens which allows the sheep and goblins to play defense and keep your life total high. Remember, you only need one so don't be afraid to chump with the others.

The worst matchup, by far, is Jennev control. They have a mix of removal, counter magic and sweepers that makes it very difficult to win unless you can play mask on four and have the creature survive by leveraging Steely Resolve.
Most Aggro matchups are about 50% as they usually only have one piece of removal which can be easy to dodge and our torches and flares are great.

I would be happy to hear any suggestions! Happy comboing!

I've been playing a similar list, although originally it was only skycrag it also evolved to ixtun. I do have Red merchants and Mokhnati (for 16dmg + hand refill) in it tho, even if i hit the merchants i usually manage to protect it till it gives off a Big Bear or First Flame. It's quite fun! Maybe try a Big Bear instead of Spirit of Resistance? :)

This deck is fantastic, but I REALLY don't like Spirit of Resistance in it. It seems like every time I really need the First Flame I end up getting Spirit of Resistance and it just feels super bad. I think it would be great if the Mask's ability let you pick the unit to summon, because there are board states where Spirit of Resistance is better, but since it doesn't bypass Aegis, doesn't have Charge, and you end up killing your own Mask to destroy the potential double-dip the next turn, it just seems like First Flame is much more often what you really want.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but it just feels like First Flame is always a good get, but there are a lot of cases where Spirit of Resistance just ends up being a super expensive and elaborately set up Harsh Rule that also kills your own Mask.

I was intrigued by the bank of this deck and I absolutely love it. I completely agree with Almost's suggestion down below (subbed in one for one for all assembly lines). I do not own Spirt of Resistance, but I am running the promo bear instead (draws seven on sack and puts itself back in the deck. Pretty cool) so I am testing without the full build, but I have found it to be a little inconsistent (we really don't have a back up plan without dramatist mask and don't have our 7 copies without a red merchant). Have you considered running any Rise to the Challenge? I was thinking of putting two or three in (masks 6-7) but was unsure what to cut. Any thoughts?

Thank you for your reply. I ran three in a previous version of the deck, but they felt too bad when I was behind. The combo already takes two full turns so spending a full turn to not affect the board and then plan on taking the next turn off to mask was too slow. If there was some sort of instant speed search that would be ideal. I love the idea of running one bear for those rare matchups where one or two masks don't get it done. The worst card in the deck is definitely Unseal. If I were to cut anything that would be first on the list. Second would probably be Display, but the incidental lifegain and pseudo removal can be good at time. I hope your having fun!

That makes sense. In play testing it earlier today I have yet to be happy to see it in hand. Thanks for the reply!

Thank you! I appreciate your support. Let me know if you have any insights that help make it more competitive.

The one deck that performs better without a market... Great list!
Almost Eternal Version: 1.45.6
Have you tried Xulta Convoy? It seems like the best thing to put mask on.
thum Eternal Version: 1.45.6
I have not. I cannot believe I have not tried that. I am going to replace some of the flocks and report back in a couple of days. Thank you for the suggestion!
GrandTali Eternal Version: 1.45.6
Instead of replacing some of the flocks, I think it's a good idea to replace some assembly line. The sheep are cheaper and usually don't get much heat(hate)!
SabretOOth Eternal Version: 1.45.6
Interesting deck. Need 19500 shiftstone's, so will think about making it. If so I'll come back with my opinion.
Thanks for the deck.
