This is another experiment at trying to not play with shadow-based decks in the gauntlet. This has exceeded all expectations in gauntlet and has produced great results.
Jekk, Hunted Fugitive is absolutely bonkers. Slapping
Deepforged Plate onto either him or
Amilli, Cloudmarshal just ends games incredibly fast. The rest of the deck is designed to get you to that point, because after turn 5, the game is over in just a turn or two.
The inclusion of primal is just to improve consistency and digging. I chose
Trailblaze over Widsom of the Elders for the more relaxed influence requirements. The goal is to hit either FFFJJP or FFJJJP on turn 5, and wanting a double primal spell is just too hard on the requirements. The influence requirements are also extremely demanding on this variant, but I haven't had much of an issue. It's true you may not hit your ideal faction requirements until turn 6 or 7, but it is designed to last until then regardless.
The most important thing about playing this deck optimally is to use
Rise to the Challenge well. If it's clear you'll be able to hit FFF influence by turn 5, then grab
Jekk, Hunted Fugitive. If you're going to hit JJJ first, then grab
Amilli, Cloudmarshal.
Strategize Works in a similar fashion where you can bin the diesel card that isn't going to be castable and just tutor it later or draw into another.
Scout cards are great with
Crimson Firemaw as you can have better control over which card gets boosted. Paying 1 for either
Jekk, Hunted Fugitive or
Amilli, Cloudmarshal just oozes value!
Have fun!
