Information

Are you looking for an aggro deck but sick of all the "Vomit hand, press A, press space" lists out there? Look no further! OverwhAggro will give you fast gameplay and meaningful decisions! Don't worry though, this list is still all about that face.

OverwhAggro uses some of the core elements of a SkycrAggro list, but switches things around a little, splashes in a little Time, and trades in some turn 1-2 aggression for more steam going into the mid-game. As the name suggests Overwhelm is the core mechanic of this deck. It is the one thing that will get you the win by completely negating early game chump blockers like Temple Scribe, Initiate of the Sands, and even Combrei Healer often just dies to your high attack Overwhelm critters. But let's break this list down, shall we?

The predictable things
There's Fire, so this list runs Torch. Easy as that. It's just too good of a card not to run. Similarly, Primal means Wisdom of the Elders, which greatly helps you maintain steam into turns 6+ and keep the threat engine going. Pyroknight and Rakano Outlaw are also unsurprising in an aggro list, and both Champion of Fury and Vadius, Clan Father are remnants of the SkycrAggro base. Permafrost is also a predictable inclusion, allowing you to neutralize beasties that are too big for your units to deal with.

Rally is a surprising MVP in this list. Usually it's there to just beef up the face damage of your lowly 1/1s. However, because of the prevalence of Overwhelm, it often guarantees a bunch of face damage or really awkward blocks for your opponent. Xenan Obelisk does the same thing, just minus the surprise factor. Both at the same time just feels deliciously dirty. Tack on a Xenan Initiation and you have many, many ways to guarantee a tonne of pain to face.

The odd things
Working top-to-bottom, Cinder Yeti is the first non-standard card in this list. The combination of Warp, Overwhelm and exhausting a unit is perfect for this list. It allows you to negate the most obnoxious blocker, takes buffs well and opens up more play options with Warp,

Speaking off buffs, I'm skipping ahead a little to Steelfang Chakram. A lot of people think very badly of this card (with reason) but it works wonders in a list that really cares about high power. And this is such a list. A recurring +4 power on Overwhelm units is not unlike a Dawnwalker in end result. The only difference is that you need to pay 4 to gain the ability to immediately attack with it. Two is plenty, as you're likely to get more from Vadius, Clan Father in longer games, and it keeps coming back anyway.

False Prince and Diogo Málaga are the final cards, and they're a little odd in an aggro list. However, no matter what way you look at it, False Prince is a very aggressive card as a 5/5 with Overwhelm for 3, and easily carries you through the early game and terrifies other aggro players. Diogo Málaga makes the least sense in this list, and the only reason it's here is because I like the card. A more practical option would be Soulfire Drake, or Crimson Firemaw if you want something a little more durable. Diogo Málaga is a more defensive option, and more rewarding in exceptionally long games, but those are very few and far between.

The strategy
It's an aggro deck, so the overall game plan is 'hit face as hard as possible'. However, you need to constantly evaluate whether or not it's worth it to sacrifice your units or not, and which units to sacrifice. Often it's worth throwing away a unit to ensure a bunch of face damage with Overwhelm, but do this too liberally and you'll be left with a hand of dead cards and nothing to hit with. There is no Obliterate or something similar for that last little push, so handle your units with care.

Planning and playing your influence is also very important to consider well. There are quite a few stringent influence requirements in this list and often you'll find yourself with awkward plays due to being forced to play depleted power. However, the general card quality in the list more than makes up for a turn late play here or there and shouldn't cost you the game if managed properly.

And that's it for the list! I've had some great success in Casual and Ranked and it very much satisfies my inner Timmy. It's nice to pilot something that's neither mind-numbing Aggro or yet another Midrange list. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
