Information

This deck is a lot of fun, and as I'm sure many of you have figured out at this point Azindel, Revealed is a fantastic card. This deck's purpose is to get him out as early as possible by using Grasping at Shadows, Pathlighter + Mitotic Wisp, or Duskwalker. You can also combine Duskwalker and Pathlighter/Mitotic Wisp to get him out even earlier.

I play Whispers in the Void as the entomb effect of the wisps it spawns does in fact work with Azindel. I am also already playing Grasping at Shadows so sometimes just targeting Tormentor is a great play. I am also playing two copies of Vara (big one), one in the main deck and one in the market making for some crazy combos. Vara activates upon your wisp coming into play EVERY turn, you can play the Tormentor off of this, or even better play an Azindel for two more free revives (I mean seriously this is broken)

My favorite combo is playing Vara -> Spitefeeder (this can be done via Grasping Shadows on Turn 6) on turn 9 to resurrect Azindel, using his free two revives from summon to summon Soulbringer for even more resurrection. Seriously, this combo is broken and can win you the game in no time (if your opponent doesn't decide to concede).

General strategy is trying to dump cards to the grave so that you have either a Vara or Azindel in grave (preferably Azindel) so that our shenanigans can go off. Secondary strategy is using Pathlighter, Mitotic Wisp, and Duskwalker to cheat out big units early. Chairman's Contract is a great card to play to activate Tribute for Pathlighter or Soulbringer, and it is also a great way to feed Mitotic Wisp so you can draw Azindel later on. Chairman's Contract also helps enable dumping to the graveyard.

Spitefeeder and Sporefolk are used to dump to the grave of course, the general play is similar to old Vara decks before here nerf. I generally use Spitefeeder on myself in the beginning but the lovely part of the card is that it has flexibility. You can dump your opponents warcried units and or pop aegis.

Vara's Choice is one of my favorite Xenan cards as it has a lot of flexibility. It works as a silence for you and also as a pre-silence for potential threats in your enemies hand. It also helps feed Mitotic Wisp.

Devour is simply for draw since this does have a lot of tokens, and it does enable tribute for Pathlighter and Soulbringer again, while also again feeding Mitotic Wisp. I thought about running Madness but I just don't think that there is room.

In Cold Blood is also an auto-include in Xenan imo.

I run 3 Dark Return since there is a lot of void dumping and I will want to recur things like Kerendon Merchant, Soulbringer, Azindel/Vara, and Pathlighter. Maybe Tormentor if you have the power. I run 2 Excavate so that I can bring back cards from the void when they accidentally get dumped via Spitefeeder or Sporefolk, or to just replay good cards. I mainly use this to retreive Grasping at Shadows, Whispers in the Void, Vara's Choice, or In Cold Blood.

All in all, this is a super fun combo/shenanigans deck that I hope you enjoy. I have been playing a lot of decks recently with the new expansion out so I haven't just sat and done a lot of games with this to rise through the ranks. I have currently played it for more than 2 hours now winning almost all of my games except of course for a few here and there, some of which were due to power screw/flood. This deck unfortunately has a lot of trouble against decks running a lot of spell negation (which I have seen a lot more of recently) and against anything that stops void synergy (for example Vanquisher's Blade)
