Some experimentation with brewing Vodacombo lead to this machine of a deck that so far went 50-25 in the Top 10 of Ranked. As usual you can find the comprehensive deck tech discussing all ins and outs here if you have any questions:
Deck Tech
The ShiftstonedEternal Power Calculator is a deck-building tool that visualizes your odds of drawing enough Influence and Power based specifically on the cards found in your deck.
I'm always excited to try your new decks when they come out, but you've outdone yourself with this one. The most fun deck I've played in a long time, and just happened to start the season with a 7-0 (and counting) run with it! Thanks a ton for everything you do man.
Really enjoying this in gauntlet, only lost one round so far in 5 runs and it was a perfect draw on wumps party. I like winning with no cards in my deck
Hey ManuS... regardless how well this is doing on the ladder, it's actually heaps of fun to play too. Been enjoying it in Gauntlet too! I appreciate your efforts!
Desert Marshal is not a spell and Stand Together is not really "tricky" in this deck. You can(have to) easily hard cast it in priority during your turn... (yeah did not log for a while... :p)
Great deck, as always. Been hoping a competitive Vodakombo deck would surface for a long while! Tempeted to try Teacher in the 2 drop slot like you mentioned in the deck tech, but I've not needed her so far.
original message:"this is definitely not a deck for diamond."
I retract and apologize for my salty undeserved comment. I, upon playing today, am unsure why I had such a bad time my first go around with this deck. It's been powerful and consistent in my playing today.
fast aggro, maybe im just playing the deck wrong? Weirdly enough playing today im doing way better. i think i just had some weirdly bad match ups with opponents getting great draws. or i didnt pilot well etc etc
fast aggro which is mostly skycrag currently is an extremely good matchup. close to a bye. I am currently I think 11-2 vs it or so. the two games I lost were vs absolut nut draws on the draw with slow hands. without all this coming together they usually lose thanks to the deck having a ton of beffy blockers followed by sword to close out the game with lfiesteal. And yeah picking up a new deck usually takes some time to play properly. but in general sth like not suited for diamond or anything similar is a nonsense statement since what u face has only so much to do with ur rank given the game has an MMR seperate from its elo (ranking points). so it is purely dependant on the matchups u face which have to do with the current metagame as a whole and the variance of what u specifically face so referring to the specific decks u face and have problems with instead makes more sense. skycrag aggro for example is one of the 3 or 4 archetypes I faced myself the most while sitting in the Top 10 so it really has little to do with rank especially since u can see me facing diamond and even a gold 2 or so player in the deck tech. I am currently sitting at a close to 70% winrate over the first 100 games so the deck is absurdly strong and keeps performing. Just hit Rank 1 on stream last night and currently fell back to Rank 4 again after trying a few other things that didnt go well.
But nice that it is alrdy working better. judging a deck by the first couple of games is not a good idea usually especially based on the results. it takes a lot of experience and duenrstanding of decks to be able to make reasonable assessments of the quality of a deck after a bunch of games based on how it plays out and "feels" rather than the concrete results. so i recommend playing a deck for a while to have the chance to learn it and also get past potential variance swings.
