Best deck in the game right now, DWD is going to nerf it and make me sad.
Edit:
-1 Cirso, the Great Glutton
+1 Royal Decree
Cirso excels at dealing with large time fatty decks that don't have much/any removal. However, given we already have multiple great market cards for those matchups (Equivocate and Zal Chi) and the fact that those decks are practically nonexistent nowadays (people are playing xenan instead of praxis) I had been looking to cut Cirso for a while. I also wanted to improve our matchup against reanimator, since that's the only deck i know of currently that is favored against us. Royal Decree is very strong against reanimator, while also being great in many other matchups, so it seemed like the best option. So far it has been a huge overperformer, and Auralian Merchant is still great even though it can only get 4 of the cards in our market now.
Eclipse dragon is insane with display of instinct, and I don't have 4 Howling Peaks, so:
-3 Howling peak
+3 eclipse dragon
I wanted more eclipse dragon synergy and deeper card draw so:
-2 strategize
+2 WOTE
Lastly,
-2 seek power
+2 jennev cargo
Because why not?
Love the deck so so so so much, don't want to play anything else.
1x Peak, 3x Xo & 1x Zal Chi, any ideas?
will have enough stones to craft ONE of them soon...but in the mean time?
Also, craft zal chi first. He ups your market's ante, but you absolutely don't want 4 in main.
First off, if you're not doing well with the deck I highly recommend switching to something that works better for you. Just because I can do great with this deck doesn't mean it's for everyone.
The deck does have plans for each of the 3 strategies you mentioned, but it's true that all 3 can be problematic. The plan against void strategies is to get off a decree to hit one of their key cards and use your counterspells to win the long game. The plan against relics is basically to ignore them - relics suck anyways because of garden and prideleader. If you're seeing a lot of relics, you can maindeck a few prideleaders. As for aggro, hands without hailstorm can also do very well - all you need is a pair of torches and/or permafrosts and you'll be golden.
In general, FTP is an extremely hard deck to play - most of the strength of the deck relies on reading your opponent's deck and reacting accordingly. This takes a lot of experience that most people just don't have.
Loving the deck though!
Prideleader is definitely a card I wouldn't mind including, the lifegain can be nice and it's a great anti-aggro card. At the moment, I think Jotun Hurler is too important to ensure we have enough market fodder - it's also great against most aggro decks anyways. I'm also a bit put off by prideleader costing the same as titan, which is already a 4-cost anti-aggro unit. I haven't been seeing almost any relevant relics on ladder, but if people start playing more problematic relics like Martyr's Chains, Xenan Obelisk, Pit of Lenekta, Svetya's Sanctum, Avigraft, etc... then a few prideleaders certainly sound appealing. Last point about Jotun Hurler, it can also be very nice to have as an aegis popper.
Cheers!
I've been ranking up with my Evenhanded Sentinels deck but got bored with playing the same strategy over and over so I decided to give this a go. I must admit that its a joy to play! :D having a lot of fun with it so far, played four games and the only one that was even close was against a reanimator deck which imploded after I used Royal Decree xD so yeah, I've completely changed my mind about this and will certainly give it more respect in the future.
The plan against stonescar is to kill any dork they play (other than merchant/smuggler, those dont matter much) and just stall the game until you get to your 6-drops. HotV is your best card in this matchup, although peak and zal chi are very strong as well. Just stay alive and out of burn range until you can drop your lategame bombs.
Hailstorm isn't amazing against stonescar, you'll often want to fire it off to kill a 2-drop. Torch is amazing though, it kills almost all of their threats. If you're frequently dying to their larger units (ChaCha, Vara, Tasbu) try saving your equivocates and permafrosts for those? You do have plenty of removal in the deck, and once you start playing hearts they can have as many tasbus as they want.
Maybe it's just that the builds in Masters vs D3 are different. I'm guessing I was mainly running into builds like this: https://eternalwarcry.com/decks/d/gOlq5fFS090/big-bad-people
Torch only deals with Urchin, Instigator, and Smuggler; or about 1/3 of their threats. Hailstorm also cleanly deals with Grenadin Drone, but that's still less than half. Display only adds Eclipse Dragon. Tasbu is basically only stopped by Equivocate, since Permafrosting him still lets them go off with card draw.
It feels like it's not an issue of having enough removal, but rather the wrong removal.
Anyway I'm 0-6 against Stonescar and 0-3 against Feln Control, so I've decided to drop the deck. Maybe I'll try again when I enter another meta pocket.
It's funny you mentioned feln control though, because that's another one of our best matchups.
I changed some cards, basically sped it up and gave some anti-aggro tools. That helped. A bit. But lolwut no this deck definitely doesn't need a nerf, not this list anyway.
@Erik9099 playing one minion per turn starting turn six -- with no sweepers and no healing in the deck -- this doesn't cut it in the ladder meta.
At diamond the meta is very hostile to this archetype.
Not being able to shuffle xo does suck, and it can be relevant in very long games, but the upsides of getting to 3+1 on equivocate and display are worth it.
1) Why the only counterspell you have in main Deck are 3 Display of Instinct? This is a little bad x Control, right?
2) Why you have 0 attachment removal? I know you can't grab an relic removal with both merchant, but anyway you could try use the fire merchant instead then your market could be Display of Instinct, Shatterglass Mage, Zal Chi, Praxis Banner, Purify.
3) Why have 0 Ice Bolt? Because Equivocate is not really a removal. You give the enemy a new unit. I know equivocate can break aegis and is great x Makto, Rost and unit with more than 8 health and Ice Bolt ramp the enemy player, but i still think Ice Bolt is better because even if he get a bad unit he can discard it or even put in the market.
1) Control is already our best matchup, you have so much value and Zal Chi is nearly impossible for them to beat. You really don't need more counterspells, they get rolled over already.
2) The lack of attachment removal is a problem, but there aren't many problematic relics seeing play at the moment. If you're seeing more relics, you can maindeck some Prideleaders. Fire merchant isn't a good option because equivocate is such an incredible market card, you really want access to it in the market. Besides, shatterglass mage and purify are both pretty mediocre cards, and jennev merchant has a better body than ixtun merchant.
3) I'm one of the most experienced FTP players out there, and I can tell you with complete certainty that Equivocate is a lot better than Ice Bolt. They both give a card to the opponent, but you'd usually much rather give them a random unit that's probably terrible than free ramp and power fixing. Equivocate is also critical in the mirror for answering zal chi, as well as any unit they play with a howling peak in play. Also Rost, Deepforged plate, and a lot of other stuff like Finest Hour and Obelisk can stop ice bolt. Equivocate really is the best removal spell in the deck, even better than torch.
1) 3 Display of Instinct + 8 merchant seems pretty good vs controls
2) if you are facing many relics deck just add an attachment removal in your market
3) you are free to use icebolt instead of equivocate (i prefer equivocate)
Can't bring myself to craft for one deck however cool.
Always like a new Erik deck, as much as I am salty about getting beaten by u twice before!
If you want to try something more spicy, Twinning Ritual and Curiox, the Collector are both plausible.
I'm glad to hear you like my decks :)
Cheers
*cries*
Don't think they'll touch peak since it's a pretty clunky card in general and goes in a lot of cool decks.
