Best deck in the game right now, DWD is going to nerf it and make me sad.

Edit:
-1 Cirso, the Great Glutton
+1 Royal Decree

Cirso excels at dealing with large time fatty decks that don't have much/any removal. However, given we already have multiple great market cards for those matchups (Equivocate and Zal Chi) and the fact that those decks are practically nonexistent nowadays (people are playing xenan instead of praxis) I had been looking to cut Cirso for a while. I also wanted to improve our matchup against reanimator, since that's the only deck i know of currently that is favored against us. Royal Decree is very strong against reanimator, while also being great in many other matchups, so it seemed like the best option. So far it has been a huge overperformer, and Auralian Merchant is still great even though it can only get 4 of the cards in our market now.

Dillon Eternal Version: 1.46.10
I’ve yet to lose to anyone including the older and now have taken in the more info trtrtftthhhhfj my🐔💋🐔🐔🐔
Artiiistx Eternal Version: 1.46.9
I made a couple of small changes and made it to master.

Eclipse dragon is insane with display of instinct, and I don't have 4 Howling Peaks, so:

-3 Howling peak
+3 eclipse dragon

I wanted more eclipse dragon synergy and deeper card draw so:
-2 strategize
+2 WOTE

Lastly,
-2 seek power
+2 jennev cargo

Because why not?

Love the deck so so so so much, don't want to play anything else.
RoninX Eternal Version: 1.46.9
I've gone the more aggro route in past seasons with a less tap heavy Mana base and dragon (and two drops). It is a route that works best when there are fewer Titans in the meta, but definitely a legitimate strategy.
Erik9099 Eternal Version: 1.46.9
Glad to hear you've been having so much fun! Congrats on making it to masters!
sayn0thing Eternal Version: 1.46.9
I'm looking for a few subs...
1x Peak, 3x Xo & 1x Zal Chi, any ideas?

will have enough stones to craft ONE of them soon...but in the mean time?
Artiiistx Edited Eternal Version: 1.46.9
Xo is a power house and difficult to replace. It seems integral to this decks game plan to try to develop card advantage, and treasure troves are real nice. But, I found eclipse dragon to be super flexible and never terrible. At least you get up 3 mana and get a free wisdom of the elders off of it or something.

Also, craft zal chi first. He ups your market's ante, but you absolutely don't want 4 in main.
sayn0thing Eternal Version: 1.46.9
cool, will do so. Thanks :)
Erik9099 Eternal Version: 1.46.9
Artiistx's said most of it. You definitely want to go for Zal Chi first since he's going to make all 8 of your merchants better. The 4th peak is not important at all, you can put in basically anything for it. To be honest, I've been considering going down to 3 peaks for a while now since it's such a clunky card, so 3-of is definitely fine. Xo is quite important, but he can be replaced. Some combination of jotun hurler and wisdom of the elders is probably what you want to run instead, hurler to give you enough market fodder and wisdom to give you enough card draw.
sayn0thing Eternal Version: 1.46.9
Added 2 Wisdom & 1 more Jotun removed Eclipses - running 3 Peaks
sayn0thing Edited Eternal Version: 1.46.9
Managed to craft Zai & another Xo. so you think Wisdom & Jotun instead of eclipse dragons?
Erik9099 Eternal Version: 1.46.9
Would say so yes, eclipse dragon is at it's best against control decks, and control decks aren't very prominent in the current meta.
sayn0thing Eternal Version: 1.46.9
COOL!
Tossthegoats Eternal Version: 1.46.9
I've been having a rough time with this deck in Diamond 2. It became quickly apparent that this deck has no relic hate and little to no counterplay against void recursion. I imagine that I must be encountering more of that than you did, possibly skewing my view of the deck. Additionally, I can see how on paper it should do well against aggro, but I've literally never drawn Hailstorm in an aggro matchup, and it's showing quite notably on my win %. I'm not sure if I'm just unlucky or if I'm making some bad plays along the way, but I'm not doing well with this list at all, I've been glued to the bottom of Diamond 2 for days.
Erik9099 Eternal Version: 1.46.9
Hey, thanks for commenting.
First off, if you're not doing well with the deck I highly recommend switching to something that works better for you. Just because I can do great with this deck doesn't mean it's for everyone.
The deck does have plans for each of the 3 strategies you mentioned, but it's true that all 3 can be problematic. The plan against void strategies is to get off a decree to hit one of their key cards and use your counterspells to win the long game. The plan against relics is basically to ignore them - relics suck anyways because of garden and prideleader. If you're seeing a lot of relics, you can maindeck a few prideleaders. As for aggro, hands without hailstorm can also do very well - all you need is a pair of torches and/or permafrosts and you'll be golden.
In general, FTP is an extremely hard deck to play - most of the strength of the deck relies on reading your opponent's deck and reacting accordingly. This takes a lot of experience that most people just don't have.
joepunchface Eternal Version: 1.46.9
Do we want Garden instead of Peak now? Or is that crazy talk?
Erik9099 Edited Eternal Version: 1.46.9
I think garden is a great card, but I think peak is better for this deck. Peak on merchant or peak on heart is just so incredibly strong, and you don't really have any combos with garden (warp spells for resurface).
Nazanir Edited Eternal Version: 1.46.9
How do you feel about replacing Jotun Hurler with Prideleader? It helps against aggro, and the relic hate has proven invaluable a couple of times, and if you don't need it you can still market it.

Loving the deck though!
Erik9099 Edited Eternal Version: 1.46.9
Glad to hear you're liking it!
Prideleader is definitely a card I wouldn't mind including, the lifegain can be nice and it's a great anti-aggro card. At the moment, I think Jotun Hurler is too important to ensure we have enough market fodder - it's also great against most aggro decks anyways. I'm also a bit put off by prideleader costing the same as titan, which is already a 4-cost anti-aggro unit. I haven't been seeing almost any relevant relics on ladder, but if people start playing more problematic relics like Martyr's Chains, Xenan Obelisk, Pit of Lenekta, Svetya's Sanctum, Avigraft, etc... then a few prideleaders certainly sound appealing. Last point about Jotun Hurler, it can also be very nice to have as an aegis popper.
Cheers!
Hanoth Edited Eternal Version: 1.46.9
I played someone using this a few hours ago. Beat them on turn 8 and couldnt figure out what they were trying to do. Maybe this deck is just weak again void recursion as my opponent had no answer.
Erik9099 Edited Eternal Version: 1.46.9
Void recursion is certainly one of this deck's biggest weaknesses, but from what you're describing it seems like your opponent just didnt know how to play the deck. It's one of the more challenging decks to play in the game.
Hanoth Eternal Version: 1.46.9
So I decided to build this deck yesterday and give it a go. Dont like to judge a deck without playing it. Never had much trouble in facing it but I think your right about people just not quite knowing how to use it.

I've been ranking up with my Evenhanded Sentinels deck but got bored with playing the same strategy over and over so I decided to give this a go. I must admit that its a joy to play! :D having a lot of fun with it so far, played four games and the only one that was even close was against a reanimator deck which imploded after I used Royal Decree xD so yeah, I've completely changed my mind about this and will certainly give it more respect in the future.
Axulus Edited Eternal Version: 1.46.9
Went 0-8 with this deck on ladder. Please nerf ASAP!
ReflectingMyDescent Eternal Version: 1.46.9
nerf ASAP please. disgusting to play against this on ladder.
Cocobean Eternal Version: 1.46.9
What's your plan vs Stonescar? I've been getting crushed by it.
Erik9099 Eternal Version: 1.46.9
Stonescar is a favorable matchup, although not by much. If you're frequently losing to it, I recommend revising your mulligan/play decisions. On ladder, try not to keep hands without early interaction since you will get run over by aggro. Make sure to sequence your removal correctly, so you can take a bit of damage if it improves mana efficiency (usually play merchant on 3 instead of torch ), but often you just need to stem the bleeding and start removing threats.
The plan against stonescar is to kill any dork they play (other than merchant/smuggler, those dont matter much) and just stall the game until you get to your 6-drops. HotV is your best card in this matchup, although peak and zal chi are very strong as well. Just stay alive and out of burn range until you can drop your lategame bombs.
Cocobean Eternal Version: 1.46.9
Yeah the staying alive bit is the hard part .. it feels like torch and hailstorm are pretty much blanks. Champion is always a 5/5, Vara is a 5/5 (and they never play her into open Mana), tasbu is a 6/6 (dodges peaks too!). It just feels like we don't have enough answers to all their threats. And with tasbu and street urchin they can even get ahead of us on cards.
Erik9099 Edited Eternal Version: 1.46.9
I haven't seen a stonescar list with street urchin yet, but in general the lists playing tasbu are even easier to beat. It's weird that you're having a different experience, I've been playing this deck a ton in top 100 masters and aggro is one of the easiest matchups. You can message me on discord if you want and I can spectate some of your games to see what's going on.

Hailstorm isn't amazing against stonescar, you'll often want to fire it off to kill a 2-drop. Torch is amazing though, it kills almost all of their threats. If you're frequently dying to their larger units (ChaCha, Vara, Tasbu) try saving your equivocates and permafrosts for those? You do have plenty of removal in the deck, and once you start playing hearts they can have as many tasbus as they want.
Cocobean Eternal Version: 1.46.9
Thanks for the spectate offer, but I'm a mobile player so that would be tough. :P

Maybe it's just that the builds in Masters vs D3 are different. I'm guessing I was mainly running into builds like this: https://eternalwarcry.com/decks/d/gOlq5fFS090/big-bad-people

Torch only deals with Urchin, Instigator, and Smuggler; or about 1/3 of their threats. Hailstorm also cleanly deals with Grenadin Drone, but that's still less than half. Display only adds Eclipse Dragon. Tasbu is basically only stopped by Equivocate, since Permafrosting him still lets them go off with card draw.

It feels like it's not an issue of having enough removal, but rather the wrong removal.

Anyway I'm 0-6 against Stonescar and 0-3 against Feln Control, so I've decided to drop the deck. Maybe I'll try again when I enter another meta pocket.
Erik9099 Eternal Version: 1.46.9
For sure switch if you're losing a lot, just because it works for me doesn't mean it'll work for you. Good luck getting to masters!

It's funny you mentioned feln control though, because that's another one of our best matchups.
WanYao Eternal Version: 1.46.9
Deck is slow and clunky and pretty helpless against aggro. I'm in complete agreement with you.

I changed some cards, basically sped it up and gave some anti-aggro tools. That helped. A bit. But lolwut no this deck definitely doesn't need a nerf, not this list anyway.

@Erik9099 playing one minion per turn starting turn six -- with no sweepers and no healing in the deck -- this doesn't cut it in the ladder meta.
Erik9099 Edited Eternal Version: 1.46.9
Sorry to hear you've been having a bad experience, my results in top 100 masters for the past week have been very good against aggro. For the record, we are playing 4 hailstorms as sweepers, and if your first minion comes down on turn 6 (no merchants, no titan) then you're doing something wrong. We have more cheap removal than almost any deck in the format, aggro is very easy to beat if you play your cards right. If you really want to tech more against aggro (completely unnecessary) you can add in the 4th hailstorm without too much trouble. Cirso's Choice is also a decent market card for dealing with decks like yetis. Still, you're already favored against yetis regardless so this isn't very necessary.
WanYao Eternal Version: 1.46.9
High master is a completely different meta than diamond. I stuck with this deck and believe I learned to play it better... but I still struggled. I tried a different imnsho better Jennev list next. It performed a lot better but still not well enough to climb.

At diamond the meta is very hostile to this archetype.
Drexell Eternal Version: 1.46.9
I dont see why people are complaining about the market. It works great for me.
Drexell Eternal Version: 1.46.9
This deck is pretty gangster
PandaMan0 Eternal Version: 1.46.9
Hello, I have most of the cards for this deck, but I am short 3x Howling Peak and 1x Zal Chi. Any recommendation for replacements?
Erik9099 Eternal Version: 1.46.9
Unfortunately, both of those are pretty critical to the deck. There aren't really any substitutions I can think up off the top of my head, if you don't have them I'd recommend playing a different deck.
TwoEagles Eternal Version: 1.46.9
It dusted all my Xo’s when it got nerfed before, and have been running Sodi instead. Seems good.
theovermaster Eternal Version: 1.46.9
But but - there's no way to get xo back out of the market with this deck. You Jebaited me....
Erik9099 Eternal Version: 1.46.9
Instead of shuffling xo, you can just grab actual good cards :P
Not being able to shuffle xo does suck, and it can be relevant in very long games, but the upsides of getting to 3+1 on equivocate and display are worth it.
theovermaster Eternal Version: 1.46.9
What would they nerf o_O
YurickYu Edited Eternal Version: 1.46.9
I love the idea of Display of Instinct in market. Alot of times i would won if i grap a counterspell with the Auralian Merchant, but i have 3 questions:
1) Why the only counterspell you have in main Deck are 3 Display of Instinct? This is a little bad x Control, right?
2) Why you have 0 attachment removal? I know you can't grab an relic removal with both merchant, but anyway you could try use the fire merchant instead then your market could be Display of Instinct, Shatterglass Mage, Zal Chi, Praxis Banner, Purify.
3) Why have 0 Ice Bolt? Because Equivocate is not really a removal. You give the enemy a new unit. I know equivocate can break aegis and is great x Makto, Rost and unit with more than 8 health and Ice Bolt ramp the enemy player, but i still think Ice Bolt is better because even if he get a bad unit he can discard it or even put in the market.
Erik9099 Edited Eternal Version: 1.46.9
Answers:
1) Control is already our best matchup, you have so much value and Zal Chi is nearly impossible for them to beat. You really don't need more counterspells, they get rolled over already.
2) The lack of attachment removal is a problem, but there aren't many problematic relics seeing play at the moment. If you're seeing more relics, you can maindeck some Prideleaders. Fire merchant isn't a good option because equivocate is such an incredible market card, you really want access to it in the market. Besides, shatterglass mage and purify are both pretty mediocre cards, and jennev merchant has a better body than ixtun merchant.
3) I'm one of the most experienced FTP players out there, and I can tell you with complete certainty that Equivocate is a lot better than Ice Bolt. They both give a card to the opponent, but you'd usually much rather give them a random unit that's probably terrible than free ramp and power fixing. Equivocate is also critical in the mirror for answering zal chi, as well as any unit they play with a howling peak in play. Also Rost, Deepforged plate, and a lot of other stuff like Finest Hour and Obelisk can stop ice bolt. Equivocate really is the best removal spell in the deck, even better than torch.
Ghismo Eternal Version: 1.46.9
Hi, i've just reached master with this deck, i'm just a casual player but these are my considerations:

1) 3 Display of Instinct + 8 merchant seems pretty good vs controls
2) if you are facing many relics deck just add an attachment removal in your market
3) you are free to use icebolt instead of equivocate (i prefer equivocate)
biologynut99 Eternal Version: 1.46.9
Replacements for Cirso?

Can't bring myself to craft for one deck however cool.

Always like a new Erik deck, as much as I am salty about getting beaten by u twice before!
Erik9099 Edited Eternal Version: 1.46.9
Cirso is pretty easy to replace, it's the least useful card in the market for sure. Cirso's Choice is a good replacement, gives you a market sweeper against aggro and some valuable lifegain against burn. Accelerated Evolution is another interesting option, since it gives you a market answer to permafrost.
If you want to try something more spicy, Twinning Ritual and Curiox, the Collector are both plausible.
I'm glad to hear you like my decks :)
Cheers
PandaMan0 Eternal Version: 1.46.9
Wouldn't Infinite Hourglass be a good way to break stun out of market?
Erik9099 Eternal Version: 1.46.9
Infinite houglass is one of many options for breaking permafrost (other options include disjunction, kaleb's choice, passage of eons, and decay ). The reason I listed accelerated evolution over all those other options is that it can be fetched by both of our merchants. I put a really high emphasis on making sure that all the cards in our market can be fetched by all our merchants. Accelerated evolution even has the added benefit of being an echo card that we can market for if we have a hand with a lot of merchants and need market fodder.
battlebeetle Eternal Version: 1.46.9
Nice work! Your reward for your efforts is the nerfbat from DWD so it’s no longer playable.
Erik9099 Edited Eternal Version: 1.46.9
They've done it so many times already that I've gotten used to it.
*cries*
QueenZiga Edited Eternal Version: 1.46.9
What would they nerf though, Howling Peaks to 7FFPP?
Erik9099 Eternal Version: 1.46.9
Auralian merchant to 0/3 would probably do the trick. They could also nerf xo some more lol
Don't think they'll touch peak since it's a pretty clunky card in general and goes in a lot of cool decks.
