The new promo
Nomnom's Big Pan had me thinking about what it might combo with. I immediately thought of
Jarrall Ascending and
Velise, Bear Rider thanks to their discard on attack for a +1/+1 to their stats for that turn (obviously only one made the cut for reasons I’ll explain in a bit).
As I fiddled with the deck I realized we need more than just primal to really make this relic pop. +1/+1 is nice for a turn but when your relic comes in at a 4 cost you need a little more than that to get things going. So shadow was added in thanks to the excellent self mill support.
Darkwater Vines let’s us get a hefty +5/+5 on our first discard and if you used
Malaise for the discard that’s a whopping +10/+10 for the turn. That’s some serious damage.
Of course both of these work well with the pan but what if we don’t have it? Well there’s still plenty of reasons to self mill or mill your opponent with
Shoaldredger and
Rosebloom Mandrake benefiting from the kind of deck we’re running at no real cost to us.
Everything else is there for support. Velise gives overwhelm and draws/discards so our insane combo can get through chump blocks easily (same reason for having touch of wild).
Icy Gaze and
Glen Pathcutter give us some nice bonuses when they are discarded (which is often) and allow us to push more damage.
Jarrall was not included because his influence requirements aren’t always met so easily especially since we discard a lot of power, and he really only gives the +1/+1 with the pan making it not really worth the effort to setup, and almost every other card in the deck has better utility than he does. Run him if you want though I’m not your mom, just don’t say I didn’t warn you.
Uxu’s there if you have him add a couple copies to your deck he can make the late game much more interesting if you’re flooded and can’t pop off early.
Have fun, and leave suggestions/ improvements if you think of any good ideas
