7-2 with this list in the event. Eats up all the fire-based aggro decks people are playing. Losses were to bad draws vs a mono-time midrange-ramp list and to a mirror.
Grenadin Drone,
Dark Wisp and
Obsidian Golem all fight decently well for the board, and the last two generate card advantage.
Back-Alley Delinquent is a fantastic creature with a great anti-aggro statline that also generates a
Sabotage, letting us get rid of tricks or removal in the opponent's hand. He's also very apt at carrying a
Hair-Trigger Pistol, becoming a 4/4 deadly quickdraw unit that, conveniently, dodges 3-damage removal.
Corrupted Umbren, usually ends up suited up with a pistol or some
Obsidian Armor and hitting for a truckload with lifesteal.
We run a lot of removal so our opponents can't execute their gameplan, giving us time to draw into our Umbren and Pistols.
Torch is fantastic,
Conflagrate is not as good and can't hit face but the amplify will be useful late-game.
Extract gives us some life and sets up our draws and
Vara's Favor is fantastic with all the 1-toughness creatures running around.
Execute and
Combust take care of big guys our other removal can't handle.
Devour keeps our hand well-stocked, and a single copy of
Scheme gives us some card selection in longer matchups. It's not a card we want to see twice, though, since spending 3 mana to draw 1 card is suboptimal vs aggro decks, so that's why it's a one-of.
The losses are coming from Time decks and one of my wins I was barely surviving thanks to Hair-Trigger Pistol on Corrupted Umbren that discouraged blocking, allowing me to get away with life-steal to buy time and top deck into Combust that ultimately kills off his 11 / 11 fatty (couldn't recall the name).
Overall the deck has issue with big creatures if the removals do not come on time. Extract, Conflagrate and Torch are embarrassing against big units, leaving me with Execute, Combust and a clever Hair-Trigger Pistol to trade their big ones. I wouldn't complain much as I think the deck is already packing the best of removals from Stonescar given the format's restriction, but against Time its a matchup to be careful with.
The deck is a blast to play and I wish I could just play pauper
The deck has obvious issue against Big Time decks. I managed to escape and appear victorious is 1 of my 3 Time matchups thanks to enough lifegain only. Otherwise, I'm equally doomed.
