This deck was designed to beat reanimator and echo makto lists, both are countered heavily by
Groundbreaker and
Statuary Maiden and have trouble dealing with fliers larger than 5/5s, which
Obrak, the Feaster happens to be. Also
Madness is really good against anything with void/revenge shenanigans so anything running
Dawnwalker and
Vara, Fate-Touched is slightly countered by this. However, if your opening hand is slow the deck can just durdle, thankfully there's a bunch of draw in here so it's fairly consistent, plus you get
Crest of Chaos which helps too.
The deck is light on removal because all of your units trade incredibly well due to having deadly,
Ashara, Ruthless Assassin forces bad blocks and chumping benefits you through
Statuary Maiden. The metagame is super resistant to removal right now and four
Torch and four
Madness seems to be enough, with time decks not currently being a thing. The aggro matchup is fairly decent, but is heavily dependent on you opening hand, if you can play
Grenadin Drone turn 1 you generally win and the deck is good at contesting the board early with your Obrak fuel. However stonescar is the worst aggro matchup because
Argenport Instigator destroys you, so save a
Torch for it if you can.
Also this deck gets completely shafted by
Desert Marshal and other similar cards (
Valkyrie Enforcer,
Feeding Time) so the combrei matchup depends on how many marshals they draw and whether they drop
Sandstorm Titan on time.
Time midrange is definitely a weakness, so don't play it if there's a lot about. Also it takes a bit of practice to play this deck , I don't think I currently play 100% correctly. I managed to get from diamond 2 to masters in about 25-30 games so I think it's good right now.
