This list is more aggressive than it lets on, you want to always be hitting face and you want to deal as much damage as possible as early as possible. What makes this deck special is it's ability to convert above the curve units into removal spells by using
Xenan Initiation in conjunction with
Dawnwalker or
Dark Return. The core shell is just another
Initiate of the Sands,
Teacher of Humility,
Sandstorm Titan, and
Worldbearer Behemoth list. However, where the deck shines is how it uses these units once it has landed them.
Aside from the aforementioned
Xenan Initiation, the deck also runs
Xenan Obelisk, and since it runs both of these cards, it also runs
Auric Interrogator, the card draw engine in the deck.
Predatory Carnosaur is a good curve topper and fits what the deck is trying to do brilliantly.
Auralian Merchant is a must-have for time based decks. So what makes this deck unique? First, the powerbase is hard, which is why it relies heavily on
Diplomatic Seal, but this is not an alien concept. Second, it runs
Ripknife Assassin as an additional good 2-drop. It helps smooth out the earlygame and allows the deck to establish a decent foothold, it's also a removal spell when paired with
Xenan Initiation. And finally and most importantly, the deck does not run any tempo cards or any cards that are concerned with anything other than dealing the most damage to the opponent as possible while keeping his units at bay. Most Xenan Killers lists treat themselves as tempo decks, when they should treat themselves as an aggressive deck with a really good finish, lategame recursion, and some really good removal. This deck is cutthroat and should aim to win fast.
The market is fairly normal, it has
Vara's Choice to remove problematic units from the board or the hand, a
Xenan Banner to fix mana, and a
Xenan Initiation for additional redundancy. It also has
Xenan Obelisk and
Predatory Carnosaur because those are good cards and help smooth out the curve.
