This deck is a buildaround of
Edge of Prophecy, getting it out, and buffing it to stupid high numbers, and grinding your opponent out in the long game. The style of the deck plays more like control. Our units are blockers that ramp Sword of Prophecy, our spells keep things off us or get us
Edge of Prophecy into our hand.
Core Wincons and Combos
Edge of Prophecy + Control cards like
Scorpion Wasp for threats we can't block or
Vanquish,
Harsh Rule to give us a blank slate and grind our opponent down with our relic weapons.
Let me show you its features
This deck plays like a weird combination of aggro and control.
Edge of Prophecy within a couple turns can get too hard to manage by units. Fire and Time decks are the only factions with relic hate, and most decks only have one to two copies of relic hate. We have 4 copies of the sword in deck, and 4 tutors which can grab alternative weapons. We also have 6 methods of recursion, 2 of which are on demand in the market.
Recursion
4x
Disjunction, which doubles as relic hate.
1x
Reforge and
Soldrain Smithing which gets our weapon back and ramps it even more.
Jadehorn turns our relic weapons into discount
Starsteel Daisho.
We have
Sword of Icaria and
Hammer of Glory as in between disposable weapons that also give us a way to deal with sites.
Possible Swaps
Auric Runehammer Better removal compared to
Sword of Icaria, but trades out pump.
Conspicuous Traveler Grows our relic weapon for future recursion, but our strategy is not unit based.
Calibrate Instead of
Seek Power, we have high enough relic density for Calibrate rarely brick, but while experimenting with it, it tended to bring the pace of the deck down.
Ancient Lore vs.
Nahid's Distillation The deck is hungry for card draw. The deck is a little shy on units to take advantage of Nahid's most of the time, but Ancient lore requires some fixing. I ultimately decided to use Nahid's. Once we get into 6-7 power and a Edge of Propecy online, there's very little left to spend power on.
Conclusion
This deck was inspired by an opponent I kept running into while grinding throne. MtG-like card games generally fall into similar archetypes, however this style of deck feels like something you'd only find in Eternal. Relic weapons are an interesting mechanic to build around as a brewer, and I plan to experiment with them more in the future.
Thank you for reading, GLHF.
Changelog:
3-11-2020
Trimmed Bladecrafter, extra tutors couldn't be utilized or drew things that weren't helpful.
Added card draw and fixing.
Seek Power potentially on the chopping block as influence requirements are easy to meet.
