This is what I consider to be the best version of a Talir combo deck currently available.
It plays just like the Talir lifegain combo deck before the destiny rule change, but has the new Grinva finisher. If something should happen to your Grinva, however, the deck can still win (albeit, a bit tricky) using recurring Lumen Reclaimers, a single Alhed while saccing and redrawing Talir, recurring dark returns/last chances, and the xenan initiation in the sideboard (targetting a big Talir). This alternate win condition is where you'll want dark returns over the last chances for the most part.
Other than the main crests (of mystery) and a single token, the deck uses powers that do NOT come into play depleted (hence the lack of seats in this list), so you can count on ramping to the seven power you need for the Grinva while milling your deck with Talir + Vodakhan.
Other obvious plays still apply to get around face aegis or opponent life gain (just use the max creature sac for Grinva on something small to bust face aegis, then use devours/additional creature sacs on fatties).
Will it ever be quite as good as the old Talir combo? Probably not, but I feel this deck is as close as it's going to get (within, debatably, a couple card choices, such as the number of dark returns vs. last chances or the number of mystic ascendants).
Hope you enjoy!
