Been trying out an
Alessi, Combrei Archmage deck, together with the new
Pearl Abbey Smuggler. I think it has some serious potential, though I lack some of the cards (namely, more
Auralian Infestation).
The idea is to play a bunch of spells to buff your Alessi, smuggler and (for now, as I really don't think this is a good unit) the
Spellstrike Sorceress. If the game drags enough to get to a stalled board, push through with
Sword of Unity + killer.
Reweave allows for some fun interaction, both with
Ghar, Master Sandmage and with
Temporal Adept (frankly, most cards in the deck are good targets for a shift effect, as you get the time to buff them before exposing them to removal).
1-of of Wondering Wisp and Thrashing Dune Worm to use as finishers, by tutoring them with reweave. I am quite satisfyied with the current market, although flyiers may prove to be a big enough problem that I put Sandstorm titan or scarf back in it.
I absolutely love Find Answers, and believe it will be seen in every deck soon.
If you already have the extra copies of
Auralian Infestation, I would (for starters) get rid of the
Spellstrike Sorceress and try that version. Also, pristine light in lieu of vanquish is the right call.
Regarding how to use the deck, hold on to your alessis until you can play them with a couple of spellsso they won't die instantly. Early aggro can be chump blocked with scorpions or explorers (from
Search Party) or with
Temple Scribe. If you get wisp early, you can play it as a removal magnet. The same goes for Gar, unless you are playing against a flying based deck. Crownwatch pressgang either chump blocks or is fuel for the reweave, getting Temporal Adept or merchant, depending on how pressured you are.
Regarding what to take from the market... you'll proably know what you need. I'll just say that Svetyia's Sanctum has really saved my neck a couple of times. There's probably a Svetyia's Sanctum armory or control deck out there, waiting to be found.
Anyways, it is a fun deck, probably not competitive in ladder, but you are invited to try (and tell me how it goes). Any suggestions will be much appreciated.
