You might remember my previous
Dragoncrag Deck. After actually tinkering with Markets (and pulling a third Kenna), I decided to post this deck renewed, and put the old one to rest.
The biggest and most important change is the market, so I'll start with that:
Crest of Fury is your power, you don't need an undepleted one in market since if you market for power, you're rarely playing anything relevant this turn. And the only 4-cost card an undepleted power would make possible the next turn is
Crimson Firemaw, so the Scout is worth more than the undepleted power, since you most likely want to scout for more power or were fetching the power for the influence.
Unstable Form is there for the same reason
Polymorph used to be in the previous versions. Also, same reason it's played in most other primal based decks nowadays: it costs 2 less than polymorph and it usually deals with hyper-buffed or overstatted units just as well. Yes, it may give your opponent broken shit, but you play that on stuff you don't want to deal with. (Like
Sandstorm Titan). Also you can use it to turn a worst-case
Mistveil Drake into a random 8-drop which usually is better than a 3/3 Flying Aegis. Also has a good interaction with charge that you may or may not have gotten from
Soulfire Drake's Entomb.
Kaleb's Choice is there to deal with stuff like
Azindel's Gift,
Teacher of Humility's Weights,
Xenan Obelisk and maybe
Permafrost. You can also fetch that if you're 99% sure that opponent just marketed for, or is holding
Harsh Rule,
Channel the Tempest,
The Witching Hour or any other mono-faction scary shit. Also gets rid of
The Last Word, if you ever encounter it.
Hailstorm's inclusion explains itself. In matchups where you want it, you're happy to fetch it, in matchups where you don't, you're happy that you're only playing 2 in the maindeck. Note, it does kill off most of your early game, including Dragonsmith. So use it with care. (BREAK GLASS ONLY IN CASE OF EMERGENCY)
Mistveil Drake seems more exotic, but it is in my opinion one of the best cards to put into a Primal Market. Why? Here are some points: It's a good lategame finisher; a 6/6 Aegis Flier is not shabby. Fetching it gives you Aegis, since it's a Fate ability. Face Aegis is good against a lot of things. Also, Face Aegis activates your
Wardwielder, turning your
Jennev Merchants into sources of Face Aegis, tuning that number from 11 to 13 (4x
Eilyn's Favor, 4x
Cobalt Waystone, 2x
Mistveil Drake and 3x
Jennev Merchant)
The rest of the Deck is pretty straightforward: You are a Big Midrange Deck. You Play Big Dudes. You Play one Big Dude each Turn.
Let's compare: Instead of
Initiate of the Sands you have
Oni Dragonsmith. Instead of
Teacher of Humility you have
Wardwielder. Instead of
Sandstorm Titan you have
Crimson Firemaw. Instead of
Predatory Carnosaur you have
Kenna, Shaman of the Scale. Yes, your stuff is smaller than the big Time stuff. But Big Time doesn't fly. You do. That's the tradeoff. Deal with it. Also, unlike most Big Time, you have actually good card draw. and ways to deal with tokens.
