Greetings,
I was looking through my cards for deck ideas and came across a card I've never even considered using:
Unspeakable Torment.....mostly because it's not really that good of a card under general circumstances. But, I decided to build a deck around it and the result is a fairly decent gauntlet grinder that can win matches pretty quickly and reliably.
The main idea is to rush in with as much lifesteal damage as possible. The units were chosen based on being fairly cheap and able to gain life rapidly. Meanwhile, you should be ramping with cards like
Lost Scroll,
Hojan, Crownbreaker, and
Copperhall Paladin. Snag Torment from your market, and use it to finish off the opponent ASAP.
The deck wins often without relying on Torment.
Severin of the Dark is an alternative win card (that also helps with gaining life). I'd say that I use Torment in about half of the matches, and about 1/3 of those of games were already won when I played it. It really came in handy with long, grindy matches or when you're stuck without a means of doing damage. Plus, it's fun using a niche, kinda crappy Legendary that you have sitting around.
When Torment does hit, it tends to hit hard. I've hit for as much as 50-60 without stalling the game to pad the damage numbers. Even when it doesn't hit that hard (which it usually hits for 15-25ish), it's usually overkill when it goes off.
As for the market, sometimes you don't want Torment. You just have to pick what's required at the time. Poacher is in only because it's one of the best cards to play in gauntlet, especially if you need to stall.
It wins about 4 out of 5 runs for me. And there's probably a way to optimize it to make it more successful. I've played around with adding
Exploit instead of
Spiritweaver, but having the extra healing from weaver seems to be the better choice.
Ripknife Assassin might be swapped out for something like
Eris Beastbane or
Deathwing, but I haven't really explored these options. I initially just expected a potentially fun gimmicky deck, but it turned out to be fairly decent.
Anyways, enjoy!
