First of all, I didn't check if there is this deck out there already and if it is, full credits to that person.
This deck is a somewhat mixture between feln control and the typical blue/black scream deck. However I personally enjoy the spin of with
Lethrai Skystrider and an elf 'themed' deck a lot and wanted to share this.
Pros:
1. Amazing card draw
2. The deck has a few nice combos and requires some thinking about your moves (I personally enjoy that, hence pro)
3. Pretty stable in current meta and can handle most match ups:
- anti aggro:
Hailstorm,
Permafrost and one of the two infiltrate units can slow down a game enough normally
- anti high priority targets e.g.
Inquisitor Makto,
Icaria, the Liberator,
Tavrod, Auric Broker:
Feeding Time,
In Cold Blood
- cheap and effective ways to pop enemy aegis:
Levitate,
Vara's Favor
4. Great finisher:
Champion of Cunning (Often you just outdraw/control opponents or get infiltrates going, thus not needing this finisher to win)
Cons:
1. 3 Cards from the dead reckoning 'expansion', which some may not own. However there are pretty effective replacements. e.g.
Lightning Storm for
Hailstorm.
2. Even though
Lethrai Skystrider is key to the elf themed deck, sadly the card itself is not that great. Horrible stats for cost 4 (2/2) and the give flying effect is pretty much useless. The dig effect is the only thing you want from this card, and it can be used to chump block.
3. White/green decks are this decks main counter. Cards like
Sandstorm Titan,
Desert Marshal and
Shush counter most of this decks combos. And if the opponent runs white, green chances are very high they use atleast the first 2 of mentioned cards. Luckily, time is not that often played in the current meta. (I know there are the chalice, green white ramp and red/white titan decks, but I see maybe 1 every 10 games max. ~diamond elo range)
Finnaly if you want to know how effective this deck is: I don't have much time at the moment for eternal but it only took me two days to get from gold 3 to diamond 3 (for monthly reward). I don't recall the exact win ratio but I would reckon it is around 60-80% percent at this elo. Obviously you might have to tweak the deck a little to counter the most used deck archetypes at your elo range. If requested I can make a list for cards to swap in/out for given archetypes.
Hope you will enjoy this deck as much as i do and good luck :)
