EDIT: Explanation of each card, mostly for my own benefit and analysis.
Permafrost Early 'removal' and aegis popper, best answer to Vara, Vengeance Seeker
Torch Strongest spell in the game. With a Smuggler on the board, this will kill off a Vara before it has a chance to buff itself.
Equivocate Another early answer to Vara, Vengeance Seeker and cheap enough to keep power open
Strategize To trade away early Xos and top-heavy opening hands
Amber Acolyte The best card to see in your opening hand. A 3-cost seek power that can be a chump unit, do chip damage, or block against aggro. It's really been a low-key allstar.
Display of Instinct Very versatile 3-power display card. With Howling Peak Smuggler on the board, it can kill off 5 health units like Champion of Cunning. Importantly, this will KILL A VARA before it has a chance to buff itself.
Howling Peak Smuggler Gives access to strong cards like Bore in the market, and the spell damage is significant. Gun Down hits for 6 with one Smuggler on the board, Torch hits for 4, etc. It's common to have multiple of these on the board as they don't provide a threatening body and often can get mirror imaged by Howling Peak.
Sandstorm Titan Swapped for Darya,Warrior Poet. Darya's deadly is ideal in many situations, allowing her to either trade with fatties or dissuade them from attacking and also give multiple other units the ability to do so. The ability to berserk our other big units, especially Feastcaller is also insanely good. She does die to Gun down and gets stopped by permafrost, and berserk on HER isn't really that big of a threat. But berserking BOTH of the Ruin Stalkers left over from the opponent removing Zal Chi and swinging for 16 flying damage? It's an incredibly satisfying finisher. She's also got the surprise factor going for her, at least for now.
Jotun Feast-Caller Despite the smaller body, worse blocking, and influence requirement, Aegis gives this the edge over Moonstone Vanguard, at least in a removal-heavy meta.
Heart of the Vault This is the main reason we run a banner in the market, but it can be a 4-for-1 card (Warp, draw a card, kill off a 2 health enemy, and a 6/6 body). It also dodges Gun Down and trades with a buffed Vara.
Howling Peak 5 cards in one, it's too good not to play. Whether you're Mirror Imaging a Feastcaller, killing off an enemy, or just getting the last fire influence you need to go face with Zal Chi next turn, this card does it all and also makes your blockers beefier. Kaleb is also a good way to turn a bad hand into a good one, and can even do pretty good damage if you have a lot of Treasure Troves in hand.
Xo of the Endless Hoard Gives you an extra card that helps you dig and isn't a bad body himself. Xo is OP.
Market
Praxis Banner I tried this out and it's really important in order to not have HOTV dead in hand.
Bore Great for killing off Avigrafts, permafrosts, you name it.
Rockslide This is the card I get 50% of the time with Smuggler. It can hit sites and is good vs aggro and aegis-heavy decks. Smuggler basically doubles the damage this does, and is one of the reasons we run her.
Burn Them All This again can hit sites and kills off a buffed Vara with Smuggler on the board.
Molot & Nakova Ridiculous card for late-game, with Aegis to dodge removal and flying to go over the enemy. If you can, try to time it with Howling Peak's use of Kaleb's Favor for guaranteed spark damage (unless they have face aegis).
Notable changes/exclusions:
Cargo/
Seek Power: These cards simply aren't as good as Amber Acolyte after turn 2. Since most of your turns are after turn 2 with this deck, it's better to run Amber Acolyte.
Moonstone Vanguard: I really really wanted this card to work, but it doesn't. It dies to Gun down, can't trade with a buffed Vara, dies to annihilate, etc. Feastcallers aegis wins over Vanguard's pledge.
Jennev Merchant: This may have been worth swapping in before the nerf, but afterwards it's just not good enough anymore.
Ixtun Merchant is even worse.
Kaleb's Choice: We have better attachment removal with bore, and better spell countering with Display of Instinct. In the end, it just didn't make the cut. It may work it's way back in to the market, simply so we can have more than the single turn of relic removal bore gives us.
Wisdom of the Elders: Yeah, we don't need more card draw. We're already flooded a lot of the time as it is.
Cauldron Cookbook: See above. Also, we have no way to gain life outside of Display of Instinct, and that's really not how we want to be using that spell.
Struggles:
This deck is top-heavy so aggro can be a problem. Less so with the changes I've made.
Influence requirements can be a bitch, we need TT by turn 4, PPP by turn 5, and FFFTTT by turn 6. Amber Acolyte is the card you want to see early on.
Vara, Vengeance-seeker is just annoying. We don't have anything we can really sacrifice to her, and deadly/lifesteal make her a pain to try and block against or race. We hate Vara.
Avigraft/Rain of Frogs on Heart of the Vault or Howling Peak can be pretty bad. We're only running a single bore in the market, which may not be enough.
