I hit masters with this so here it is.
The deck is basically just Maul but with some of the cards swapped that uses the nightfall for card draw to get units and beat face (and sometimes for lethal). Pretty simple.
Card notes:
I don't have a playset of
Cykalis, the Burning Sand, but even when I ran the copies I had, I found myself more happy to see
Daring Gryffyn most of the time, especially against justice decks that use board clears on 5 to stabilize, and Cykalis doesn't help against that. The only problem is the anti-synergy with
Daring Gryffyn and
Amaran Stinger's scorpion traps. Oops. So if you have
Cykalis, the Burning Sand, he's probably just fine to run instead, but I found the evasion and spell-counter-with-upside to be really good, especially in D1. Also it's cheaper, so that's always nice.
That said, this is less a deck and more exhibit A for DWD to nerf
Sodi's Spellshaper because it pushes this pile of cards over the top. Stick it on anything and everything until it gets nerfed.
Unexpected standout was
Gloaming Wisp. I was planning on removing it when I switched the focus away from maul but forgot about it, and then was glad I did. Getting Nightfall turn 1 is great, keeping the nightfall chain going for 1 power is great, and the evasion for
Sodi's Spellshaper can matter sometimes, and the art is cute.
Just remember that
Swift Refusal is in your market. Stops
Harsh Rule,
Shen-Ra Speaks,
Grasping at Shadows, and once a clutch
Sol's Fury.
