Introduction
This is a deck I've been working with for a while and wanted to show.
In short, it uses
Deans' Chamber,
Grand Suppressor, and
Sling of the Chi synergistically with large Skycrag units that often have undesirable summon effects.
Core
Sling of the Chi, the namesake of the deck, interacts with 16 heavy hitters in your deck hitting an enemy unit for 6 damage and drawing you a card at the end of your turn.
Deans' Chamber and
Grand Suppressor are the no fun allowed cards that everyone always wanted. They let you play cards with undesirable summon/contract effects while ruining some decks.
The Payoff Package
Belax, the Ravenous,
Guardian of Spring, and
Thundrus & Snooze are the units with undesirable summon effects I was speaking of. They're just really big units that synergize with
Sling of the Chi. Don't be afraid to use them in a pinch when
Deans' Chamber or
Grand Suppressor aren't on the board. The regen from
Thundrus & Snooze is also great for getting rid of deadly units.
Rost, the Walking Glacier is the other big unit that, fortunately, can be played without compromises. Also remember that he immediately comes back from the void after getting killed, triggering the 6 damage attack again from
Sling of the Chi. Warp him if you can!
I do believe you need at least 16 of these units to properly make use of
Sling of the Chi.
Other Important Cards
Permafrost stops enemy units from doing unit things that you don't like.
Blazing Salvo is the market access card. Given that merchants don't synergize with the deck, and grafters are, in my honest opinion, too slow for this deck; you have very few ways to access the market. It basically boils down to
Primal Etchings/
Transpose/
Blazing Salvo.
Primal Etchings doesn't work on a third of your units, and I found that the available 4 cost spells aren't as appealing as the 2 cost ones. More on the market choices later.
Display of Survival is an amazing multimodal spell that can protect your relics, wipe some boards, and most importantly, get rid of undesirable units and non-curse relics.
Market
Chastisement is the third promo card from West's Disgrace. It's a bit of a meme pick, but it's great that none of your big units mind getting burned for 5 to get a free double attack.
Ice Bolt is a kill spell for most units. This card can be swapped with
Hailstorm in the main deck, a meta-dependent choice. There's also a funny combo involving
Rost, the Walking Glacier, and at least two
Sling of the Chi; kill your Rost to wipe two enemy units potentially!
Lightning Storm for when you don't draw
Hailstorm. This one is very replaceable.
Royal Decree is a control-ish card that has been pretty alright. Hand information is often of great value.
Draconic Ire is there because I couldn't find a 5th 2-cost spell of my liking. Synergizes with
Belax, the Ravenous.
The Rest
Eilyn's Favor is a decent power tutor with the great side effect of giving you Aegis.
Maveloft Huntress is often a kill spell. She can also get you out of power droughts as long as the no-fun cards are off the board.
Hailstorm is a meta pick. Wipes most aggro boards very effectively. Plunder/Market fodder when it's not useful. It's a shame that
Grand Suppressor dies to it, but it's so much better than
Lightning Storm.
Powerbase
Fire sigils are bad when you are running cards like
Display of Survival and
Rost, the Walking Glacier. For the same reason, I'm also afraid of using
Xultan Conclave.
I used to run
Skycrag Tome, but the depleted power before T4 started to get on my nerves. I found the current setup just fine. This hurts casting
Belax, the Ravenous on T3, but it's not a big deal.
Notable Exceptions
Torch lost the battle to
Permafrost. It's a player's choice. I don't think you have the space to run both.
Petition could be used instead of
Eilyn's Favor. I preferred the instant Aegis to a Treasure Trove from
Skycrag Cylix.
Refracted Sentinel is a card I used to run before crafting
Thundrus & Snooze. He's alright.
Tamarys, Earthshaker is a normal inclusion in this kind of deck. After playing her for many games, she didn't seem that great since many aggro units have 2+ health. It's nice that she curves into
Sling of the Chi to get card draw, but she was hurting me more, I felt. She was like a worse
Staff of Stories.
Other draw spells... I just found them too slow.
EDIT (09/27/22): Reworked the market;
Draconic Ire (doesn't proc too often) and
Lightning Storm (overall poor) are gone, and they've been replaced by
Dazzle (plunder and spell negation) and
Eilyn's Favor (emergency aegis, might go away).
Petition is now in the main deck (replaced
Eilyn's Favor) and
Blazing Salvo loses one copy.
