Hi, this is a pretty strange time based Elysian list that I recently built while trying to think of a deck that can outvalue Xenan and answer its threats. I think you'll be surprised at how powerful some of these cards are, even if they aren't typically played due to their influence requirements.
There are a lot of unorthodox cards, so I'll explain some of them and why I believe they're worth your shiftstone:
4x [
Danica, Runed Witch]
I'm guessing this will be the first card that sticks out to anyone, because it hasn't seen constructed play and has been in the game for a long time. I'd actually like to compare it to a similar card that's part of the same cycle,
Diana, Faith's Shield. Both of these cards draw a card on summon, but only Diana gains 4 health. The main difference between them is the fact that Danica comes with imbue, so that as long as you have another unit on board she becomes a serious threat that the opponent has to answer. In addition to that, Danica works extremely well in multiples (or with
Maveloft Huntress), letting you continue to draw cards and force your opponent to answer her.
4x [
Sodi the Metamorph]
Sodi is another card that's been available for a long time. It's a lot of trouble to reach TTTPPP influence requirements for her, especially when her ability can be interrupted by a removal spell. The reason I am playing her now is because of the amount of duals this deck is able to run. With
Alhed Ascending as the only influence payoff, you can forgo symbols in favor of having more undepleted power and a much higher chance to reach double/triple primal. Sodi still has the issue of not drawing a card if she gets answered before your turn starts, but in the current meta there are not many efficient removal spells that can answer cheap multifaction units. Having a 3-cost card that must be answered immediately against a deck like Xenan which only has so many
Banishes starts to become very awkward for them.
4x [
Curiox, All-Seeing]
This is a card that was only recently added in Cold Hunt, and many people expected it to be very strong (some even saying it could replace
Helio, the Skywinder in
Elysian Spells). Unfortunately, it doesn't fit that deck very well, but it works perfectly here! Since you care much less about holding up extra power, and you want inevitable threats that 3-for-1 your opponent, a 5/5 endurance flier that draws two cards is incredible!
I think with addition of these unique cards that can generate threats while gaining card advantage time based Elysian becomes a real deck. It's been so much fun to play this on ladder, so I hope you'll enjoy it as well!
2/15/22 Updates
I altered the powerbase to include
Greater Plans so that there are more ways to play undepleted power on two without decreasing the chances of casting Sodi. For quick math you have a 98.1% chance to find a hero by turn 3 on first mulligan and with 17 other duals you shouldn't have issues reaching PP for
Maveloft Huntress. It's good with Sodi because if you draw her then you can make a primal influence, but if you don't then it doesn't interfere with playing Danica or Xumucan on curve.
+3
Permafrost for more attachments to activate Sodi's muster text and as a generic removal spell
What are your thoughts on this list post balance patch? I've been on the fence when it comes to spending the shiftstone and would definitely be interested in your take
Losing Dinosaur Nest hurts this deck a lot, so I would say it's a lot weaker now. Other midrange decks like Xenan also got significantly weaker though, so I could still see this list performing well on ladder. If you do decide to play it, I'd think about replacing nest with Obstructive Flicker to help against Hooru or other control decks, as we currently have no ways to stop board clears. Xumucan should still be about as powerful as before, and because of how popular control decks are I think he might even be stronger than when I posted the list.
I hope this helped, good luck!
I haven't tested blueprints, although it does sound like it could be strong in a different deck. The main reason is because we want to be able to cast Danica and Xumucan on curve, and primal sigils would get in the way of that. We're also running other modal power cards in Time Etchings and Dismantle, and if you include too many of them then it starts to detract from their versatility.
Enjoy the deck ^^
