Greetings,
I wanted to make a deck using
Curtain Call b/c I've never used it.... and here it is. It's been performing pretty well in Gauntlet and in casual Throne. For now, I'm calling it a Gauntlet grinder since I've tested it more in that format. It generally works as a midrange deck, but it can be fairly aggressive if you get
Alhed Ascending or
Dinosaur Nest out early with 1 or 2
Time Symbols or an early
Twilight Hunt.
There's not much to say about it since it's pretty self-explanatory. For the market, I generally go for Burden or Temple first depending on the matchup. I might replace
End Of An Era since I've never actually used it.
Disjunction or
Unmake would probably be a better fit....the former especially since I'm running Burden and the scarf. I'll consider this change as I play more PVP.
I don't often use the unleash effect on
Dunehill Clan; I mainly use the extra copy as a market exchange card when I use an etching or the merchant.....but having the unleash option is nice.
I've played with and without
Braun, Regal Courier and I think I like it in the deck for now. A 6/8 for 5 isn't bad, and the +1 power helps in playing Burden earlier. Braun's ultimate is ok if you're out of gas and have nothing else to play.
I'm thinking about taking Gnash out of the market since I have the scarf. But, I like having the option of making the 1/1s every turn in drawn-out matches. Plus, they go well with Burden.
I'm probably going to tweak this a bit over the next few days. Either way, enjoy if you decide to use it!
One way to help focus the card selections and increase the synergy is to think deeply about certain aspects of the deck you may have not yet considered:
- If you want a faster deck with a better curve, you might consider 3-drops like Moldermuck. It also works well with Curtain Call.
- Do I have too many competing options at the same Power cost? You currently have 12 4-cost Units, but after turn 4 you'd rather play something bigger (and on turn 3 you'd like to play something too).
- Xenan has great ramp options, with Wasp being its most infamous. Hard to turn that one down, even after the nerfs.
- etc.
I think this deck could get more focused and then solidify into any of a number of different possibilities.
Right now it feels a bit rudderless.
But anyways, thanks again for taking the time to give me solid suggestions. I'm looking forward to seeing what you put together with the new set.
