A slightly diferent approach to the original:
Total Control
As the name already states, this is a control deck. Fast matches are possible, but the deck rather concentrates on winning over time. There has yet been no match up that could not be beaten. The streak's arrived at an amazing 30-0 (full runs), thats 210 single match ups won in a row. Braggin rights reserved.
To the deck:
As its original version it focuses on board wipes and single target removals.
- 13 board wipes =
Nothing Remains,
Harsh Rule,
Fall to Ruin (can also be marketed earyl to pull back later,
Saloon Massacre
- 11 single target removals =
Sinister Rumors,
Auren Condemnation,
Slay
thats bascily 33% just to control the board with spells.
Additionally to the direct removals, there's double functional units to stall the board and access the market.
-
Vine Grafter is a no brainer, nice when setting regen on the market pick or
Kerendon Merchant
-
Kerendon Merchant has deadly and AI doesnt like that
-
Hidden Road Smuggler for occasional lifesteal
Skullmarket Delivery as another market access without losing hand capacity
14 Market access cards in total
Vara, Vengeance-Seeker serves multiple purposes, whether its the occassional Lifesteal, setting up a deadly blocker, Summon kill potential or Aegis Killer, all of that will come in handy against any opponent.
But whats the win Condition?
There's diferent approaches at winning here. Maindecking
Stormhalt Plating due to its Inscribe to not get mana screwed, but to also finish off matches.
Yet that's not the only win condition it carries. The market is the key to winning here, that's why there are 14 Market access cards:
-
Poacher's Menagerie is a win condition by its own
-
Inquisitor Makto a control must include (also nice with regen)
-
Rolant, Iron Tyrant can not only become massive himself, but the minions he spawns are game changers. When the enemy reaches a board stall situation, you can just Harsh Rule the board and Rolant will still spawn his units onto the board from the void
-
Black Book, Pit Boss is hard to kill and its warcry 2 will buff your units rapidly
-
Hoarding Builder, so your win con got removed? just get it back and pull it again, there's enough market access
The low amount of units within the deck is wanted. Once PM gets rolling
Argenport Blueprints and
Sinister Rumors can be used to get them back (or any other units you wanna pick)
All in all there is NO match up that favours the AI.
The most important thing at the end though:
NEVER keep a hand with less than 3 Power.
NEVER EVER!
Have fun!
EDIT: swapped Rift Distaster for
Fall to Ruin
Another board wipe that can be marketed early to pull buck later on when needed.
now on 34-0 runs
Stormhalt is just an additional win con apart from units. The alternative you found seems pretty ok though and if it works for you, then why no use it ;)
I haven't yet needed fixing, since the deck tops out at 5 Mana nad it should never be played without 3 Starter mana (including Inspire and argenport blueprints).
As for your Icaria situation: i had something similar happen one match, just not icaria but silverwing fam + double mantle. Used saloon massacre to pop the aegis and passed into auren condemnation, easy 21 shield to me :)
Will try the deck out, thx for sharing
;)
