**Update Jan 18 2020**
I made a few tweeks, removing 3x Finest Hour and 1x Accelerated Impact for 2x Inquisitor's Blade and 2x Seek Power.
I ran this list in the January 2020 ECQ. Was off to a good start (15-6!), though a tanked the end with a 0-7 streak.
Based on my ECQ matches and ladder matches, here's my take on a few of this deck's matchups:
* Generally, aggro decks feel like a good matchup. I'm usually glad to see Combrei Aggro (went 4-0 vs it in the tourney), and Rakano Onis usually isn't too bad depending on everyone's draws. Put up a bunch of walls into a Harga killer chain or surprise Impact, or use a few walls to bait them into over committing into the market Shen-Ra Speaks.
* Dragons lists (Stonescar/Skycrag) feels decent (3-0). Similar to above, though you'll need to save your Choices for fliers. If you have a few Merchants, usually the first 1 or 2 grab the targeted removal, then a follow up for the board clear can clean up and reset. Quirins are usually very important, both for nuking stray weapons, and as a Lifesteal flier.
* Elysian feels 50/50 (also, went 3-3). You can wall up vs their more aggressive ground-based hands, or race vs their slower ones. You don't usually care too much about Sodi's Spellshaper, unless there is pressure to back it up. Gryffyns are usually rough though, especially chained in multiples. You might be able to set up a well timed Shen-Ra Speaks after popping it with another spell, though you don't have that many of those. If you can afford to, hold on to extra Seek Powers specifically for doing so. Sometimes you luck into a good Harga chain to clear their board though, are get some good Siraf rolls, so play to those outs if you can.
* Shadow-based midrange, especially Argenport, generally feels like a poor matchup, but winnable (2-1). You want to play the aggro, as their lategame usually wins out in the end. Play around Cast into Shadow, and keep an eye out for surprise Platemaker + Blade/Impact + Choice win opportunities.
* Curses feels similar to Argenport, though you can get some great blowouts with the market Cleansing Rain. Accelerated Impact doesn't care about -Strength debuff curses, so if their removal doesn't line up in the right order you can sometimes race them down.
* Self-mill Xenan cultists/Vara ramps feels like a coin flip. Your aggressive draws + destroying Hourglass with Quirin can disrupt them enough for a fast win, but if they get off their Vara chains it is likely GG. Against older cultists builds with Vara in the Market (or decks with a similar end game plan), you can sometimes time your market Shenra-Speaks to counter. This version, with multiple maindeck Varas, can usually rebuild from that easily.
* The worst matchups are usually extreme aggro such as Yetis (0-3), and Shen-Ra Speaks based control (1-3). You might be able to stabilize vs Yetis like other aggro, but usually their stuns push through enough to close the game. You probably aren't winning through a 2nd Shen-Ra Speaks. Sometimes you can aggro/unit buff them out if they stumble, but the later the game goes the less likely you are winning.

Here's an Expedition take on the old
Shard of the Spire meme that I threw together for fun at the start of this month's ladder (<48hours ago). Whaddayaknow? Somehow it got me to Masters! 4th place! out of 5... :P
**Disclaimer**
I am not claiming that this is in any way a good deck. Looking at it on paper, I would assume its a pile of jank. My bet is that I hit some very lucky pockets, and was lucky in general. Also, I played an unhealthy amount these last two days (maybe any deck would've done the job). I'll leave it to better players to determine if this has the bones for something decent.
** End Disclaimer**
That out of the way, this deck was pretty fun to play. My goal was a Harga deck, but I focused more on "big butts matter" cards than Minotaur tribal. Yisha and the market Shard turn all your dorks into jocks, and the
Accelerated Impact lets you temporarily do the same for anything already in play. As a bonus, you might get some free wins since its unlikely anyone is playing around Impact (because it's Impact, who plays that card?)
Sometimes it's worth saving your 0/Xs, if you have Yisha/Smuggler in hand and you aren't under pressure. Dropping 5/5s and 8/8s is usually worth the effort. 5/5 Siraf is always a fun time.
Other times it's worth running out those 0/Xs, with an Impact in hand. Impact is a one-shot Mastery trigger on Harga (which can feel very silly and satisfying) and Qirin, and will pump most of your other units at least a few strength each.
If you are under pressure, use your walls as walls to buy yourself some time. They can always be buffed later with Impact or Platemakers. If you have an opportunity where your opponent over commits to get around those walls, a well timed
Shen-Ra Speaks from your market can be devastating.
The deck is fairly light on removal, so your market cards are at a premium. While some hands can do a decent Combrei aggro impression, for slower games you can use your
Aamri's Choices' second effect to buy yourself time.
A warning (learn from my mistakes) - be careful with your Harga, a Yisha/Shard buffed Platemaker or a Siraf spawn can one-shot your dear Warden-bro...a spawned Angry Prophet has got me multiple times :/ Also, Impact counts the unit's current (post-damage) health, not base health, so playing any units before attacking will de-buff Harga.
Thanks for checking this out, hope you enjoy it!
For example, Stonescar Dragons has generally felt like a decent matchup. Use your Aamri's Choices to neutralize them, and sometimes a Mastery-triggered Quirin (especially a Yisha-buffed one) is large enough to hold the fort, or swing through a single flier. Triggering Harga can wipe out fliers with a few minotaurs to buff. Sometimes your opponent will also over commit their fliers, so a well-timed Shen-Ra Speaks from the market can be a blowout.
I have added 2x Inquisitor's Blade in more recent versions, too (I'll update the list). It's usually used more for giving your units evasion, but sometimes it can put a wall up against enemy fliers.
- update the power base, to add Banners/Crests
- consider swapping to a Time market, to use Auralian Merchant. Stick one of the impacts there, a Stand Together, etc
- if you want to push things towards the later midgame you could use other ramp like Devotee of the Sands & Tocas, Waystone Harvester, with some larger payoff units like Worldbearer Behemoth or Amilli, Cloudmarshal. You would probably lose more of the Minotaur/Harga payoff, but have generally stronger cards.
- If you want to stay towards the earlier midgame, Teacher of Humility is always strong. Many of the payoff units are already in the Expedition deck (Siraf, Harga, Platemaker). Auric Record Keeper is a strong 3-drop without being buffed, and will benefit from a Harga trigger.
- You could try to build into a Pristine Light angle. When your units aren't Yisha/Shard buffed, they'll live through it, and even if they are buffed you can attack first and redraw them (potentially resetting Mastery triggers). You could even go Light -> Impact, to wipe their big units and swing with a large team in the same turn.
I'm by no means an expert, I've only been playing this for a few days, so you could also search for similar Throne decks for more inspiration.
Hope that helped!
