Hello fellow card players! My name is Anoxo as you read above and i have been playing this deck through gold and its been a very fun ride.I will try to keep this updated as i make my way into Diamond. I've never been much of a control player but for some reason I fell in love with it in this game. Ive played 20 years of MTG and always played aggro or Midrange so it was a nice to find a new play style in the same style of Card Game.I am a Feln Control fanboy and love having extra cards in hand over my opponent.
We all know Feln Control is in a very very sad spot right now and I am not a huge fan of Hooru Control so I'm trying to fill in the missing pieces of Feln Control as well as my hunger for a fun control deck, with Fire.In doing this we gain access to the all loved
Torch and more importantly
Quarry and
Statuary Maiden.
-
Statuary Maiden is useful in stopping Argenport and their undying Revenge. She also adds to late game win con in using the Cudgel she supplies and even more they can be used to dump into the Market.
-
Quarry is amazing in the sense that it's ramp for weak ramp colors and helps curve out your removal/draw and late game gets rid of dead cards by thinning the deck which
Strategize does not.
I feel the main objective of the deck is to hit Merchant on T3 and play
Rain of Frogs on T4.Doing this gives a huge advantage and if we are against
Icaria, the Liberator you a very likely to hit her which makes the match practically a Insta-win.After that staying alive until the late game like all Control decks is how you want to play.Getting to your
Jotun Feast-Caller to gain board presence and card advantage is key.Late game comes a little faster with
Quarry.
Market:
-
Skycrag Banner - Mana fix always comes in clutch
-
Rain of Frogs - Nice for taking out opponents key cards
-
Feeding Time - Sometimes you just need that instant removal Now
-
Crystallize - Very Versatile card can be used for offense to end the game of defensive if you just need another turn or just have had it with all the 1 life Grenadins
-
Molot & Nakova - Our two headed friend is there for board wipe, maybe just the last for damage on the opponent or even a strong 8/8 Flying with Aegis
Credit where credit is due: i did take the idea of
Molot & Nakova and
Rain of Frogs from a deck called "Felnscar Control" made by Kablam. Before his deck i was running Shadow Merchant which wasn't terrible, you get easy access to
Burglarize and
In Cold Blood but i felt i was too slow thus losing more games. Now the deck feels more balanced and in turn more responsive.
So thank you Kablam and thank you people for checking out my deck list! Got any advice, nice comments, just want to hate on it or even critique my guide writing skills? Then shoot me a comment.Any criticism is welcome!
