Skycrag rules the meta, but we tired of Yeti decks a while ago. I brewed an aggro deck in Skycrag colors to take advantage of the alliance cards while still feeling different from the current tribal iteration. The deck plays fast, aggressively, and tries to defeat opponents before they can get their deck going.
Key Cards
This deck needs
Snowcrust Yeti to get around cheap removal. Most opponents hold up removal for bigger or scarier creatures like
Champion of Fury or
Dusk Raider (which this deck needs) and this guy just keeps whaling away. Permafront provides great tempo by locking down problematic creatures like
Vara, Vengeance-Seeker and
Torch... just... does... things. Good things.
Backlash protects your units from board wipes or spot removal and pings for 2.
Acquisitive Crow generates plenty of value and gives you stuff to pitch to
Howling Peak Smuggler. Finally
Eclipse Dragon provides quick endgame beats and regenerates your power for fast spells.
Please run
Flame Blast.
Notable Exclusions
I eschewed
Ice Bolt because I hate giving my opponent extra power. Run it if you want, especially if you have trouble removing creatures. I used to run
Vadius, Clan Father but I cut him for the Crow. I found myself needing more late game value and Vadius just wasn't cutting it.
Market
Bore: Whether it nukes
Permafrost or kills a
Stormhalt Knife (or both!) I found myself needs attachment removal badly.
Flash Freeze: A holdover from the original iteration, I never feel bad about this great tempo play
Mortar: Won games before, especially if the Smuggler stays on the board.
Garden of Omens This one seems less obvious but hear me out. I know I said that Ice Bolt is no good, but by the time I land this, the free Bolt usually means the difference between swinging for lethal and letting big, fat, flying lifesteal unit wreck me. I can also move
Flame Blast to the top of the deck and cast it for 0 + whatever. The attachment removal also helps most of the time (here's looking at you, Relic Rats). And finally,
Tamarys, the Geomancer on top of the Garden gives me cheap burn or an evasive unit with decent stats to finish the game.
