A Xenan 'doing stuff on your opponent's turn' matters deck, with a bit of 'spells the cost 5 or more' matters splashed in. To be fully honest, I wasn't actually paying a lot of attention when building this deck - I pretty much just leaned into taking every fast spell and card with ambush I could see.
P1P1 was
Elysian Cylix, into P1P2
Curtain Call. From there, figured I'd play Xenan, and grabbed all the tricksy stuff I could find. Was hoping to stick to two colors if possible, but... As things happened, a lot of the fast spells I picked up were expensive (ex:
Imprison), which made Ancient Mechanist and
Leyline Tracer better.
P2P1 I was greedy and took an unplayable legend (
Spirit of Resistance). On the other hand, I followed that up with
Seek Power and
Learned Herbalist, which opened up the possibility of splashing (even if 3F is a bad idea in this format).
False Prince was also picked up, since the Cylix made splashing Primal the most likely.
P4P1 I grabbed
Maveloft Huntress, which solidified the splash. From there, continued to fill out the rest of the deck with cheap units and fast spells.
Highlight: daisy-chaining a 5/5
Baying Serasaur -> 9/6
Mandrake Shambler -> 11/7
Maveloft Huntress
MVP:
Learned Herbalist. Fixing is good, fast spells are good, life gain is good.
