Probably not the
BEST deck for Gauntlet, but it's pretty fun to play and gets a sensible win rate.
The "always win" condition is to get a
Scraptank out, draw cards win the
Stonescar Scrapper by sacrificing ALL your grenadins and put a
Heretic's Cannon on the
Scraptank. The new
Stonehewer makes this whole deck much easier to play as you only need 3 powers to get either the
Scraptank out or the
Stonescar Scrapper. Usually when you've managed to lose at least 1 grenadin while the
Scraptank is out, the AI is doomed
You also get very enjoyable combos, like
Madness +
Combust, which takes 2 units out, potentially deals damage along the way and could also benefit the
Scraptank.
Don't worry about losing all your grenadins early on because the
Gearcruncher resets all of their deaths.
The market is mostly for the lulz, except for the
Heretic's Cannon and the
Combustion Cell which sometimes help combo with
Madness or give the extra power for
Gearcruncher.
Some extra tips:
1- Prioritize
Stonescar Scrapper over
Scraptank as it can block and score some extra life points while resisting
Torch and
Mortar.
2- Do not play
Stonehewer unshifted unless you have 6 or 7 power.
3- Once you have a
Scraptank out, attack with all your lowlifes grenadins. The AI ins't aware of the implications of killing them.
4- Delay
Prickly Grenadin as much as possible until the AI has 2 or less cards in hard as they get to choose. They usually have a gazillion of power cards to discard before that.
5- The AI doesn't understand the implications of killing the
Devious Drone.
6- A "good" starting hard has no
Gearcruncher, at least one
Stonehewer and a
Stonescar Scrapper or
Scraptank. You don't need the
Cen Wastes Smuggler until much later on, or at most 1 of them if you think you might get mana screwed.
