After shelling out for
Void Drummer’s last year and being somewhat disappointed, I am pleased to announce that wisp decks seem to be a lot more well rounded since the release of Defiance.
The Cards:
The core cards in the deck are
The Praxis Arcanum and
Memory Dredger. With the site out Memory Dredger/card] can fetch all your cards costing three and under.
There is a lot of graveyard fetches in this deck with four
Dark Return and four
Dread as well as
Memory Dredger and Soul Bringer. Generally you want to use the first two to fetch the last two as the units are more efficient at retrieving the little guys.
Usually you will have no shortage of cards running this deck with the constant recursion of
Dark Wisp as well as
Sadistic Ritualist supplying constant value sacrificing little guys that will soon be back (It also means
Madness will be dead in your hand a lot less).
If incrementally chipping away isn’t enough you expect to win with either a persistent
Void Drummer or the new Slumbering Wisp which gets very big very quickly.
Aurelian Merchant is chosen because we want to be able to access
The Praxis Arcanum while still keeping copies of it in our deck. All the cards in he market have been generally useful though further experimenting could be done.
Gameplay:
As mentioned a lot of the deck revolves around careful use of
The Praxis Arcanum so let’s discuss it’s potential. As alluded to above all of your three drops can no be picked up by
Memory Dredger. This is particularly useful for bringing back
Void Drummers. Generally you want to use the deadly on a wisp, give charge to a memory dredger and give the +4 health to whatever you’d like to use to keep the site alive.
It can be quite subtle how to play out your turn once your engine is partially assembled. If you have a
Void Drummer and
Memory Dredger ready to attack on a turn you would ideally like to have something you want to resurrect in the graveyard. This can often mean using your sacrifice outlet before combat on something like a Dark or Slumbering Wisp.
Conclusion
I haven’t been keeping track of wins and matchups explicitly but with a small samp,e size it’s around 75% with this expected to drop once I leave Gold!
