In another Post i read, I saw someone mention
Moldermuck and was like: "Yea, it's a good card, but not consistent." Which kinda made me think about how to actually make it consistent... Just a few hours later I came up with a raw version of what i wanted to do and tested several cards:
Paladin Oathbook was my 1st attempt, but it just didn't feel right to just attack with one unit a time and also the muck got wasted while defending... so nawwwww
Xenan Obelisk just made the muck a little bigger to begin with, but still it died too fast
Rolant's Memorial too dependant on sacrificing and too many spaces for cards doing that
Shingane Forge is useless since its just making new weapons
On the course of trying all these, I found that the Copy of the muck keeps the Battlesskills once they are permanently attached
A Flying unit with Aegis that copies itself and grows stronger every time it gets involved in battle...
... dreams ...
Sorry, it's not a dream, it's a Muck! A Moldermuck!
Moldermuck +
Fearless Crescendo +
Back for More +
Counsel of Heroes
I admit that flying and Aegis are actually an overkill, but a nice-to-have. You basicly don't need them, since the
Counsel of Mucks gets out of control too fast for the opponent to realise whats happening
And this can not just be done with
Moldermuck (eventhough that's the funniest way), it can also be achieved with
Amilli, Cloudmarshal
Amili - her 1st 1/1 becomes a 2/2, the 2nd 2/2 becomes a 4/4, the 3rd 3/3 becomes a 6/6 etc.
and
Rolant, Iron Tyrant spams 2/2's instead of 1/1's (good against AI decks that use 1 damage pings
The Downside of
Counsel of Heroes is that the enemy units also get doubled, thats why this deck has several Removals and some Lifesteal
Piloting this deck is also quite easy. Start with a
Moldermuck in hand, get
Counsel of Heroes out of the Market 1st, 2nd choice should be
Fearless Crescendo to pull out Back for more just in case your unit gets removed (make sure to have 3 power left) and then start the happy copying.
Many cards in this deck are replaceable, such as
Inspire or even rearranging the removals, that's basicly as to personal preference.
I'm open to suggestions though, aslong as you don't remove the
Counsel of Mucks ;)
Edit:
Switched some cards as to suggestion by @Timetravel (see comments)
Sideboarded Alternatives for the Market
- Revenge units (Stonepowder Alchemist, Inquisitor Makto, Severin of the Dark, etc) get buffed twice by Counsel, and moving up each unit helps them. However, some of them may not fit your low curve.
- Pristine Light becomes better with Counsel as your enemy will have bigger units; also getting back your units let's you get the Counsel buff again; also it will trigger Destiny on any of your units
- Shen-Ra, Unbreakable reaches her mastery earlier with Counsel, and is cheap to replay after a Pristine Light
- Lay Siege removes stuns and can prevent your Mucks from shrinking for a turn; maybe worth considering as a market card
Pristine Light was in the Market before but got subbed for Back for More, you might aswell reverse that and put it back in, since the aegis is not really that necessary
If you swap out Back for More you can aswell remove Fearless Crescendo, because in my playstyle they belong together. Thus giving another free market space, maybe fpr Lay Siege
I did consider Revenge units to begin with, but didn'T really find one to get the value i wanted. Stonepowder Alchemist is just not worth the value, with a 2/1 at 3 cost and retunring as a maybe 4/2 he'll have a tough life and I'd personally prefer something with more impact, such as Ripknife Assassin.
I like the idea of Inquisitor Makto. He could be a very decent card in here, maybe from the Market or as a sub for Auric Sentry, the powercurve should be able to support that.
Severin of the Dark, eventhough i love him, he is way out of curve and we don't aim for 7 Power tbh
Shen-Ra, Unbreakable i don't have her, so i have absolutely no experience in that matter, but just from pure stats i prefer Crownwatch Paladin
I like to play Makkar's Quiver
cause, it's good to maintain his attacks and with 6 mana your copy is higher and higher.
I like to play Vine Grafter
Vine Grafter is very power full aigainst CPU :
He stop regulary Cpu's Rush with this horrible Turn 1 Oni Ronin
He makes a free copy of Moldermuck with regen. (but the copy have regen/used :'( )
The Makkar's Quiver way also works to a certain point, because the damage might get higher and higher, but the HP gets lost and that just doesnt fulfill the purpose of this deck.
Yet i can try to throw something together and make a Xenan Version of it, but that should take some time ;)
Edit: Tried Killer: not working, since Killer gets transferred as used/depleted
Small tweaks I made after playing for a bit:
-1 Justice Etchings (very embarrassing a couple of times w/ the 12 shadow units >_>)
+1 Winchest Merchant (much better)
-4 Inspire (just sort of a bad card)
+4 Cull the Deck (same cost, more digging for key pieces. have yet to draw it, weirdly)
-2 Petition
+2 Lost Scroll (just wanted to try it. the ramp seemed nice. have yet to draw)
-2 Vanquish
-2 Slay
+4 Smite (busted new card is busted)
-2 Auric Sentry
+2 Copperhall Bailiff (seems like a better version of the same card?)
Market:
-1 Fearless Crescendo
-1 Back for More
+1 Harsh Rule (just in case)
+1 Immortalize (flying/aegis Moldermuck is fun. But have you tried an Exalted Counselmuck? lol. It's overkill, but doesn't have the timing restriction and keeps the chain going if our buddy dies somehow)
Again, so much fun. =)
I agree on almost every change you made
Cull for Inspire - perfect (why didn't I think of that?) ;)
I'd still keep the Auric Sentry over Copperhall Bailiff because its got 5 HP, which makes it harder to remove, also the Endurance makes resistent to stun and with Counsel its a 2/10 instead of a 4/6
Market:
guess your Market is better. I tend to use the Fearless Crescendo to pull Back for More within one turn and with both of them being fast, they can also act on the enemy turn, especially suitable against the valk deck.
