This is an idea that I have been toying around for a long time and it has some success so far. Took this deck to this week's ECQ and got 11-6 (could not complete the whole thing as I have other things to do).
The core cards are:
-
Larai, the Appraiser: early aggro blocker, draw engine.
-
Pillar of Progress,
Ancestral Oasis: essential ramp cards. The extra attack from Pillar is critical for the reach since our weapon base attack is only 3 and 4.
-
Lightning Strike,
Shen-Ra Speaks: value defensive cards, must have for control deck archtype.
-
Duelist's Blade,
Ageworn Vestige: our win-con
-
Sorcerer's Wand,
Waystone Gate: one-of card but very important. With Larai and
Calibrate, we can easily fetch these. The wand is so good if you are not in lethal's threatening state. The Gate keep us healthy in power (you need at least 9-12 power for this deck to function properly.
-
Abyssal Scrying: you are going to draw 4,5,6 card with just 6 power. It's so good when you can cast it.
- Other utility cards are there and can easily drawn in case you need it.
Market with
Transpose is still not properly done. I find myself draw
Devoted Theurge most of the time to bring my health back to good state for longer game and
Rain of Frogs against other control deck. The other 3 slots are flex spots.
