Potential upgrade path for
The Budget Gauntlet Grinder. I've been playing Gauntlet for a bit with
Boukish deck and it's been nice, but it hasn't been updated since v1.29 - Dead Reckoning - and that's a long time.
I've added more units that can gain
lifesteal for even more resiliency. I've removed the
Awakened Student as although it was good to start with, I've found that it would often die without providing life against aggressive decks.
Hojan, Crownbreaker is not only a good card to open up with and fix potential power issues, but it also gives lifesteal and is a good investment for standard play.
Vanquisher's Blade is another card that can serve multiple purposes - either provide that extra bit of heal needed to survive vs early aggression or as removal in the late game.
Market
The only important card in the market is
Martyr's Chains, which sees a lot of play in ranked and is worth the investment of 2,500 gold to buy the theme deck
Hojan's Oathkeepers (also contains 1
Hojan, Crownbreaker).
Golem Press is useful to get when you are short on units and the opponent keeps spawning a ton of them (saved my run a couple of times).
Harsh Rule is a last resort card with the rest being random fillers that I haven't really used.
Other notes
With
Martyr's Chains it's very easy to complete
Overheal achievement for an extra 2,500 gold - just wait till one of the lifesteal units can hit for 999 and then finish (you can only gain ~999 per match, as any extra heal over the top doesn't count).
Would this deck work in VS too? Im not looking for peak performance, but to at least get my first win of the day consistently.
Why so many cards that give creatures aegis? Is it so important to have aegis on your cards?
Thanks.
