Information

Hey everyone, this is my first time posting on Warcry, with a variation of the deck I took to the ECQ bracket in April. Hope you enjoy it!

A few starters' tips:

- Try to drop your Calderan Cradle as early as possible. Often this is best to prioritize on turn 3 over removing your opponent's units even if you have removal in hand.

- As a general rule, it's best to cast your fast spells on your opponent's turn. This is especially true against players you suspect are running Korovyat Palace. Against Palace decks, bait your opponent into casting Withstand on their unit, then remove the unit with an Equivocate, Torch, or Display of Instinct before the buff resolves.

- Look for opportunities to summon Dragons from Calderan Cradle as your opponent's units are attacking so you can use them as blockers. Otherwise, you should aim to summon the dragons at the end of the turn only after your opponent has hit "end turn". For instance, it's often worth casting a Torch to hit your opponent's face (at the end of their turn) if that will let you duplicate a Dragon with Howling Peak's Mirror Image the following turn.

- Be aware of the excellent synergy between Second Sight and Find the Way/Jotun Hurler to get more spells to use as Calderan Cradle fodder. Second Sight can also be used on the Bore from your market after casting it to avoid having to discard it at the end of the turn (this is particularly relevant against decks that run multiple copies of Rat Cage).

- Unless you really need Fire Mana, use Find the Way to only pull Primal Sigils, as you have a limited amount of Fire Sigils that can be drawn by the Kaleb's Favor from Howling Peak.

- While the sentinels from Moment of Creation have the potential to get huge in this deck (I once played them at 32/32), you often don't need the card to win the game. It's also often not a good idea to drop this card without having a Kaleb's Choice or Display of Instinct in hand and open mana to respond to your opponent's next turn. Think of it as an extra push that may or may not be needed. If you're facing a lot of aggro, this card can just as easily be swapped out for removal options like Purify.

Changes:

I've taken out the Scorpion Wasps to add an extra Second Sight and Display of Instinct. I've also added a Moment of Creation in the market in place of Brilliant Idea. The deck's tactic against Hooru Control has changed slightly, but the current list is still very favored. Basically, you want to get to a position where you can cast Moment of Creation and be able to negate the Harsh Rule that your opponent will cast the following turn.

Another option is to add an additional Kaleb's Choice if you are facing lots of the Diogo Málaga, Elonze + Stonescar Excavator combo deck. Generally this deck is very favored against that one as is (if you don't forget that Celestial Omen is a fast spell as I did in the Tuesday Night Eternal Tournament this week ;p).

Potential inclusions from Dark Frontier include Eclipse Dragon, Ice Bolt, Glimpse the Possibilities, and an Incendiary Stalagmite in the market.

If you want some thing to remove scourge of frosthome you could try regression in the market. With respect to Wasp it is certainly a more niche card, but being in the market it wouldn't clog your hand when you didn't need it and it wouldn't need your opponent to attack with scourge, which is definitely a misplay in the face of three time power.

Hey thanks for your feedback! I definitely agree that Wasp isn't that effective at dealing with Scourge, especially once the opponent knows your deck and realizes that attacking with him is a bad idea. I've changed tactic a bit to make the deck more consistent, and now the strategy against Hooru Control is out-race the deck and drop Moment of Creation with a negate in hand before Scourge appears. This happens most of the time, especially when you get Cradle early and he needs to use his Jennev Merchant to pull Visions of Austerity. When the new set comes out, I'll likely throw an Incendiary Stalagmite in the market just to deal with one-off threats like Scourge and Diogo.

Just an update that I've been trialing a version with Unstable Form in the main deck and Moment of Creation in the market. It's working really well so far so will modify if the streak persists.
RentalHonda23 Eternal Version: 1.45.7
I use unstable form over find the way, pseudo removal + enhancers for hurler or dragon

Hey cool, I've thought of that but have yet to try it. The reason I use Find the Way is to have some mana-fixing mechanism, as sometimes I would find myself not drawing enough power despite all the draw in the deck. Will give it a shot though!

Why you remove Xo? He was great with Second Sight. Also i think Moment of Creation in market would be great too. Really fun deck.
HeronCrane Edited Eternal Version: 1.45.7
Thanks for your feedback :). I like Xo but I've found that Find the Way is more consistent as it controls what you draw and lets you cast two spells instead of just one. Really the most important thing is having several Fate/Echo cards to hit with Second Sight or Strategize. Hopefully more cards like that will be introduced in the future!

Awesome to see this here! Great brewing! I've loved playing with some of your previous iterations and will have to give this one another go!

Thanks! I was a bit unlucky to face so much Praxis and not draw what I needed in this month's ECQ, but I refuse to give up!
