Oren's Tricks

This deck revolves around Kaspar, Oren of Kosul and his ability to duplicate the first relic you activate or spellcraft ability you use each turn. Shadows of the Spire gave this deck a couple of tools for utility and survivability, but the basic gameplan is the same as before.

Larai, the Appraiser will tutor up relics, letting you keep only one copy of Grodov's Burden and Sorcerer's Wand in your deck. She also prevents your opponent from attacking with relic weapons or activating their own relics. The new card, Archmagister's Prophecy can boost her health on the cheap, letting you double-dip at the 5 spot if you want or need to get both. If you were so inclined, you could even boost her with Kaspar on the field to go after Kodosh Sees All, if you feel inclined to add that card to your list.

The real beauty of this deck is getting multiple activations off of Crystalline Chalice and Grodov's Burden with Kaspar on the field. But getting multiples from your other relics, say Sorcerer's Wand or Golem Press can buy you precious time, and Kodosh's Armor can be huge.

Grodov's Burden and Kodosh's Armor work gloriously together, if you get them both on the field. The ideal play is to fetch for the armor while Kaspar is out and spellcraft the armor twice (or more).

Some market additions:
Authoritarian Creation is a godsend against fire/primal spell decks.
Sodi's Spellshaper doesn't spellcraft twice or for free, being a non-relic attachment, but it's still plenty useful in certain situations.
Most of your units should survive Storm Spiral thanks to your relics. This is here to clear out annoyances like totas, carvers, cultists, and the like.

A tweak I'm testing with the additions to Expedition this week. I've taken out Pesky Seedling and put Moondial in its place. Missing the bodies, but the nightfall and activatable card draw meshes well with the other tools in the deck.

Another new addition to the format, Eilyn's Choice should give you some added defense against varied threats.

Eylin's Choice out, Pesky Seedling back in. The Seedling allows you to be much more proactive than the Choice and get some info. Also, maindecking a copy of Linrei's Codex and some Bottled Storms. Testing this morning has been pretty good. It suffers against early aggro and control, but if you can manage to stabalize and get your relics working the game is yours.
