If you have played Eternal roughly three years ago, you probably remember most of these cards being put into one single deck. People always hated playing against this kind of deck.
For those who haven't played Eternal long enough or have never heard about the Terror which is Chalice, this used to be a meme until someone built a meta-warping deck out of it, out of nowhere. (No new cards had been added for this kind of deck to emerge, it was created back when there was only one set, and it was created almost 1 YEAR after launch, roughly half a year after open beta launched.)
The idea is to play "joke units"/"draft chaff" with a "build-around meme card" and suddenly it's a deck, because your build-around card turns your "joke units" into real threats while giving you card advantage. Granted, most units used in the original lists weren't that much of a joke back then. Another thing is that this kind of deck works fairly well on a budget since most of it's contents are common/uncommon and this deck can be played entirely without legendaries.
So, what makes this deck so terrible to play against? In a meta where markets are limited, card draw is king.
Crystalline Chalice is royalty when it comes to card draw when built around. Chalice is double king in a meta where card draw is king AND where relic hate is sparse.
Sorcerer's Wand is an amazing relic that turns
Display of Tradition into sort-of hard removal, gives you pseudo-chalice card draw and allows you to stun annoying units in a pinch.
Mother of Skies and
Kaspar, Oren of Kosul are just amazing since the former gives you more targets for your beloved Chalice, and the former doubles up any activation of said Crystalline relic. If you don't have the campaigns, those two are most likely not as vital as I make them sound and thus can be cut but they're certainly really good.
Transpose is basically all 4 of your Chalices while protecting it with Aegis at the same time. And you don't feel sad about drawing a second one because you can get an
Avigraft or some other goodie from the market with it.
Ageworn Vestige is most likely not necessary, but it felt good in my (limited) playtesting. If you're on a limited budget, it's definitely a cut to consider.
Tradition Chant ->
Seek Power is a very obvious budget replacement, so the only non-common/uncommon cards you really need are a single
Crystalline Chalice, 4x
Transpose and 4x
Shen-Ra Speaks. you can mostly just bump up the 2-of and 3-of cards to 4 if you remove cards you don't want to craft for this deck.
