It's been a long time since I posted a deck on EWC. Heck it's been a long time since I've played this many games of Eternal. This is not a new deck, but it's one that has received significant improvements since
the last time I shared it.
I entered masters very early this season, at rank 1, with a very good win record.
I already felt that a small shadow splash was worth it in the deck, but the addition of
Fear just makes it too hard to pass up. That said, you should be very deliberate when deciding to play your shadow influence, mainly trying to maximize your 7/7 golem. Then there's
Star Charts which is just crazy good in this deck. It's almost like you get to be on the play some of your draw games, get the extra card and get a free factionless card in your void. With no downside. It is in the center of so many busted lines you can have on the draw. Many of which result in turn 2 5/5 Dragons. The best cards in this deck are power cards, no question. If you want to get the fastest, most consistent
Cast Iron Furnace activations, then this is the correct version of this deck.
If you want to delve into making changes, you can consider Suppressor, likely removing 3x
Crystalline Wanderers and something else, maybe 1x Fear or 1x Seek Answers. Varret and Mask Maker go as a pair in my opinion. And I think the power base is probably optimal and should not be touched, unless you are adding a different color to the deck. I'm generally not sold on Crystalline Wanderer, but it's an OK body, and helps get Furnace's that you've milled back.
The starting hand that you keep is very important, and will likely be the most important thing to keep working on and improving. You want to always have "your count" in your head. How many Factionless cards are in my void or can I get into my void. That will enable you to maximize Cast Iron Furnace, which is the strongest part of the deck. It arguably doesn't even have a plan B. It just makes tons of stats, very quickly. Use
Sealed Writ to finish things off, sometimes you'll need to grab it with Petition on 5 power, before it transforms to the damage spell. Against control decks, you'll likely need to dip into your market
Silverblade Menace.
If you have questions/comments happy to answer them below.
Edit to add some notes on the market:
It's important to remember that the broker is not direct market access. So it's generally used to improve your average draw against the deck you are playing. In some matchups, like against control decks, you would have enough time to be confident you will find a silver blade menace after adding it your deck. Remember that you don't need to shuffle something in, you can just play the merchant as a unit.
Edict - it gets picked against kira and white fatty decks most of the time
Eremots - specific card against go wide strategies, since knife is better against the average aggressive deck.
Silver blade: necessary against hooru based control and gets picked against other high spell decks. Against these kinds of decks, you can be more confident you will see your market card.
Caiphus: gets picked most often. It's just adding some top end to your average draw, without having too many 6 drops in your starting deck.
Knife: This question comes up a lot. Free is free, no influence requirements. It's the card you will pick against red based aggressive decks, even when you are at a healthy life total.
The only pretty unwinnable match for me was red aggro with 2-1 flying berserker. It is too fast for me to make some defence.
Kira is other painful deck, agreed.
It's interesting that you picked those two cards as the weaklings. I can definitely see how they would stand out. I think Beseech ends up being better than Seek Answers very often, particularly after playing a tempting offer. Though seek answers is decent as a bad petition. I like snipe quite a bit, decent 1 cost factionless cards are hard to come by, and the minimum possible cost ends up being important, since you try to play your cards before making your power drop for the turn, so that you can trigger Furnace. I think if we were to get another 1 cost card that was playable, I'd try to remove something else before hitting the snipe. It has surprising versatility in a lot of matchups, over performing in quite a few positions.
ETA: A turn 4 board of two 5/5 dragons, a 5/5 Wanderer, a 4/1 soldier, and a 7/7 golem is just delightful.
May be worth trying, but I have some reservations on how good it would be
