Another Hooru deck, leaning heavily into the control side -- Playing this deck feels a little like set-3 temporal control, but you hit your endgame so much faster. Your goal is to control the early game with cheap removals while you play out depeleted powers, then slam an insignia, sigil, or waystone into
Rost, the Walking Glacier on 5. The powerbase is the key to this deck -- even though with so few sigils the seats are almost always depeleted, playing all these duals lets us make sure that all but one of our 25 power make primal, so we always have
Rost, the Walking Glacier's 5 influence. Because the deck is almost all card draw and removal, the market has both Eilyn and the Sanctum as wincons, instead of having an extra answer like
Vanquish.
Pristine Light synergizes well with
Rime Conclave Smuggler, to the point where I opted for 4x in the mian over 1 in the market. Against HotV decks, chump attacking your smuggler into their beefy board,
Pristine Lighting their sentinels and rebuying your Smuggler is a satisfying line. (For some reason ladder opponents take the "free" block pretty often, but maybe that's just because I'm playing in high diamond/low masters.)
Mostly this has been working pretty well, though I have a few lingering questions if the community has any comments:
1) I used to be playing
Throne Wardens but found that I kept discarding them to
Honor of Claws or sending them to the market, but they block pretty well vs aggro-mid Stonescar -- would that be a better fit than
Jotun Hurler?
2) The market is also not fully settled -- I'd had
Stormhalt Knife in the main but pulled it to make room for
Pristine Light, and while
Adjudicator's Gavel is great vs Rost decks and scream/reanimator shenanigans, this deck is turning the corner on 5 and 6 and can often just outrace the opponent with Rost -> Palace, so should that spot become something else? I'm considering an
Ixtun Cargo or
Eilyn's Favor to make sure we hit undepeleted on 5, removal like
Vanquish or
End of the Story, or a counter like
Unseal to protect our threats (and similarly hold back scream/reanimator)...
3) Can you play no justice sigils in a
Harsh Rule deck? I'm never playing
Pristine Light on 3, so with these duals is it feasible to get 2 justice influence on turn 5? It feels sketchy to cut but maybe it's time to be brave...
